Ex-Spurs Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Did he leave of his own free will or was he told to go?, I hope it was not the latter!
Watching his press conference you got the feeling he did not want to go!
I wonder who made that decision to cut him-Frank or Levy?
Son just too good!
I don’t think he wants to go and it’s still probably his full decision. I’m sure he knew that physically he just can’t be at the level he wants, and there’s no better way to go out.

I do think the line about the club helping him come to this decision was a little weird but I chalk that down to him being emotional and a language issue.

I think it's probably pretty simple. Frank was going to use him as a super sub and give Romero the armband and that's not a role Sonny was prepared to embrace in a World Cup year.

This is the best outcome for everybody.

Legend. Absolute top class player and person. One of the most incredible goal catalogues and leaves a deserved champion. Truly deserving of a statue.

Man, Kane is probably better overall as a player, but Sonny means more. To me and to the club I think. He chose us every time.

And now, when he’s not what he was, he goes out as captain of our best achievement in 20+ years. I’m both devastated and happy he’s going out on top.

I want a statue of him before anyone else. He is the definition of a legend for me. I will be telling my grandkids about him. I have nothing but positive feelings and memories of him. He’s Spurs forever.

Totally agree.

One of my biggest memories of Sonny was when he played on a broken arm all match and then scored the winner at the end.

Son wanted to stay with the club for another season. He was very clear about that. So those saying that it's suddenly his wish to leave now obviously have no idea what they're talking about.

He has a contract for another year and would no way turn down playing in the champions league again.

He was a great servant and a fantastic artist on the pitch. We're not going to see another player like him for a long time, if ever. He had attributes that were truly unique such as being two footed, statistically the most clinical of all forwards, and someone who always worked hard.
He was very unselfish and holds the record for the most assists at the club. This fact is so often overlooked, but it shows that he was a team player.

First the club refused to offer him a new contract, and then they extended it just to get some kind of money for him. At least let the contract run out, you'd think.

Now our hope is that unproven players such as Tel, Odobert and BJ actually deliver something and don't just live off the hard work of Son.

I kind of want the #7 retired. No one else feels worthy of wearing it

That only gives Baldcunt an excuse not to attempt to buy someone worthy of it, tho.

Really sad to see Spurs fans suggesting we should retire the #7 short. What a fkin ridiculous idea. Yes, he is a legend. But then so were Greaves, Hoddle, Jennings, Chivers, Perryman, King etc. Imagine if Man U had retired the #7 short after Best retired. There'd have been no rich history for Robson, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo etc. to build on. I want top players to really want to come to Spurs and wear that number because Son wore it.

I recently watched the Sky Sports Premier League 100 club feature on him (it’s a series showing the best goals of the players who have reached 100 PL goals). Some absolutely brilliant moments in there, well worth a watch. Anybody moaning about his drop off in form / speed last year should give that a watch.
Nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said; thanks for the memories Sonny. And good luck !

His issue last year was having Ange as manager for a second season. Ange completely destroyed our players physically. Unforgivable.

Just watched a compilation clip of Son whilst listening to All or Nothing by O-Town.

Someone hold me 😭😭😭😭😭 www www

“…is this how it ends, with a simple telephone call, you leave me here with nooooooothing at all”

Sonny is definitely a club legend and seems like a diamond of a person. What a pleasure to have seen him be part of the club for the last 10 years.

I do think he has chosen the right time to leave and try something else.

I’m guessing this is aimed at me 😂

Sorry for my “fkin ridiculous idea” but emotions are running high, and that’s how I felt in that moment.

It’s hard to imagine someone else wearing that number right now, but one day someone will and it won’t be so sad.
