He has, but that was for Brentford's level. For us, let's give him better players and let him improve those.

He can still improve Odobert and Johnson, but he can do it from a place where they are squad options, not bonafide first choice.

Was it for Brentford's level?

United just paid £70m for one, who a lot of people on here were creaming over
Another went to Saudi for £40m but would have got another £70m if he didn't have a betting ban
Wissa is another who might yet move for big money.
Watkins also went for a wedge and has been linked with another big move on from Villa.

I'd argue that what we already have is levels about what he started with, with those.

I severely doubt he's going to be as pessimistic about the options he has as the fans seem to be.

I asked ChatGPT what Levy should do:

Buy:
CM (control)WhartonHGStructure + homegrown quota lift
LW rotationClarkeClub-trained HGPace, solves club-trained slot
CB depthBranthwaiteHGRotation + sale flexibility
ST / backupYoane WissaHGDepth and goal threat backup

Sell:

Rodrigo Bentancur
(CM, non-HG)
– Surplus with Palhinha, Maddison, Gray, Bergvall
– Injury record, blocks HG additions

Yves Bissouma
(CM, non-HG)
– Inconsistent, error-prone, not a Frank-style 6
– Free up non-HG slot

Manor Solomon
(LW, non-HG)
– Peripheral role, non-HG
– Replace with club-trained winger (e.g. Jack Clarke)

Richarlison
(ST/LW, non-HG)
– Doesn’t suit system, high wages
– Cash in to fund HG forward

Cristian Romero
(CB, non-HG)
– Only sell if HG CB (e.g. Branthwaite) is secured
– High resale value (~£60M+)

Lol Jack Clarke!

Wild idea that only Chat GPT would have come up with

(Is he actually club trained with all the loans?)

I don’t get it how many plans do we need to keep giving our academy players. Donley is sane age as some of the expensive punts we have bought in. He had a good spell at the Os getting valuable first team action. Surely he should now be given a chance with our first team squad. We play lip service to our own players. Other clubs would be giving them a chance. I bet if kloop was manager he’d be pushing these players to get into first team. All we do is the equivalent of our transfer policy ‘monitor them while on loan’’. I’m sure a lot fans want to see what these guys are made of and will be frustrated that yet again we don’t get to see our players in a spurs shirt.

If we genuinely go into this season and we have CL remember, with Odobert and Johnson as our wide left attacking options, fucking hell. That is even without the optics of how unambitious it looks to the fans and outsiders after losing Son.

It will just say it all about Levy and the ownership.

Would be absolutely fucking dismal. You would never ever see one of our rivals in the top 6 do that. On the contrary, United have signed Cunha and Mbuemo. Chelsea have about 8 elite attackers and still want Xavi and Garnacho. Woolwich want Eze.

Johnson and Odobert are nothing more than bench warmers for an elite club. Again that's not doing them down. If they prove this season that they can reach the heights of being that type of player, fantastic, but to go in to this season relying on them as first choice. No thanks.

Odobert and Tel are a decent LF/LW platoon. Kudus, Kulu and Johnson are a decent set of RF/RW.

Johnson unfortunately is a bit of a hangover from the Ange days. Kulu who I personally like, need to find a long term position, and it’s probably as a 10 and not a RW.

We’ll simply have to wait and see how they turn out or offload them in subsequent windows. It probably won’t happen right now as there is only so much business that can be done for the sort of fees Levy would like to see for them.

You can get as mad as you like about it, and I’m sure we’d all agree we’d like better players, but you all should know by now how the club operates, and at least not let it bother you so much.

I’m personally fine with Odobert and Tel at LW and am excited to see how they fare this season.

You know that Johnson and Odobert can only prove they can reach the heights this season if they aren’t replaced by someone else, right?

"Johnson and Odobert are nothing more than bench warmers for an elite club"

"Again that's not doing them down"

Sober up old boy, you are making yourself sound like a right twat.

Two thoughts.

When was the last time we brought in an "elite club" player pray tell.

Is this your first season supporting Spurs?

It appears that according to you neither are up to much, but if they prove you wrong we are good to go with them.

Nothing like putting your balls on the line with an even bet mate.
