Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't see it. He's young and got loads of potential sure, but his scoring record is pretty shit and they want like £70m for him. If we're spending big money on a striker it should be on someone who is all but guaranteed to give us 20+ goals a season.

Sesko might turn out to be that guy but it's a gamble we cannot afford. We've already made so many mistakes on expensive punts in the transfer market.
They want £70M guaranteed plus add-ons, reportedly.

I don't think there's anyone you can sign thats guaranteed to score 20+ in the PL, though. So I think that's an unrealistic standard. Obviously thats what you want, but no one is nailed on to do it. Certainly not anyone you can get for less than £100-120M

From the clips, Marc Casado looks like a destroyer DM / 6. Wiki sez he can also play at RB or CB, although at 5'8" he isn't going to play CB in the PL....

This suggests we want an aggressive midfield that can protect the defence and break up play for quick transitions. It seems Frank & Cochrane see Bergval, Gray & Sarr primarily as 8s, with tenacious players like Palhinha & Casado behind them, giving them the licence to make forward runs & potentially press high. Not sure where Bentancur fits in, and Bissouma would definitely be off if we sign Casado.

Against the bus parkers though, we're crying out for the guile & creativity in midfield that Maddison, and to a lesser extent, MGW, would have provided. We still need a 10.

I think we forget that Bentancur was at his best when he was given the license to make those forward runs and press high. Thats where he shined under Conte. Hopefully the Palhinha signing will put him back in that role.

I also think we're crying out for a ten, but have little faith the club will put the money towards an impact player.

Maybe we play more of a high pressing system since we have the legs and subs at CM to do so. Get our FBs up higher in the attack. Porro is now probably the most creative player we have in the team. Need him up there

Obviously I’m bitter because I want us to sign this player but it’s embarrassing what football is allowing clear lake to turn it into.

They’ve signed 40 players in 2 years or some crazy shit like that. Then they just pull dodgy shit to move out unwanted humans to make space for new ones because they never really bothered to make a plan other than “The best ones will stay”.

And still getting good money back from the sales of players who hardly played all season. Sick of it. Is like Solomon will only sell for £15m from us but £35m from them.

The Sugar era was lean, selling Spurs with George Graham as manager to ENIC in a couple of tranches, the first of which was in 2001 exiting completely in 2007 or thereabouts - but still with minimal cash, and a very weak playing squad

In the Sugar years and early ENIC years Spurs were almost always well into the bottom half of the table - indeed my memory of those times was breathing a sigh of relief when we passed 40 points, usually at end of March or in to April.
Thanks for the trigger memories.

The "man in the overcoat" era, with the ginger Pele playing up front, was the only time in my life I began to lose interest in the famous Spurs. After standing on the Shelf watching Hoddle, Ardiles, Archibald & Crooks, Waddle & Gazza, the "overcoat" times were rank. Bleak and depressing.

Winning the Europa League was great, but last season was the first time since then that I was counting to 40 And of course we never got there, being saved from relegation by three rubbish teams....

Over a third of our goals from last season have gone with the loss of Son and the injuries to Maddison and Kulu

We scored 61 last year and those three accounted for 23 of them - 37 percent.

Solanke scored 9 so if he's out for an extended period of time half of our total goals will be on the treatment table.

Tel, Richarlison and Kudus have to significantly increase their goal contributions otherwise we are in trouble.

Yeah if you break it down by the numbers it doesn't look good. But we also conceded the 4th most goals in the league.

This year is going to be much different than last anyways. It's not gonna be Ange's this is who we are.

This year, we have to place our trust in Frank to approach each match differently and use our squad to get the best result possible.

Solanke, Johnson, Kudus, and Richy have all proven they can score goals in the league. Are there more questions surrounding those players than we would like? Certainly. But they've done it before. Anything we can get from Odobert, is a bonus.
