Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I get the transfer anxiety but window still open for 3 weeks. Im 99.9 sure we will sign a couple more players. Arujo wouldnt surprise me as bentacurs team-mate. AM, LW and striker. Bag them then im sure we will have a good-ish season.
Baffles me you could be confident of 4 additional signings.

I'd be over the moon with one. A 10 or a shit hot forward to inject some life into our front line.

Showing ambition is a meaningless fan phrase.

You either improve how the team plays on the pitch or you don’t. Transfer window is one small part of that but there is a lot more that goes into it. Transfers are extremely risky and even huge expenditure by Man Utd and Chelsea (billions in a couple of years) hasnt led to great performance because you need to get the rest right. So far they haven’t.

People getting overexcited at Utd’s transfer business is like looking at someone’s photo to decide if they’ll make a good wife. You might feel some type of way but it doesn’t make it good.

Our owners probably don't even know what an internet forum is, much less care what we think they should be doing.

Hopefully a dry window will rile the matchday fans up.
I'm hoping to have my mojo back after watching us basically let teams win every game for 18 months. Maybe if I have some enthusiasm again I'll arrive early and make up the numbers.

Moaning on here achieves nothing though. It just becomes pointless mass hysteria. The same old stuff gets spouted hour after hour, day after day.

Go for a run, get some fresh air. Get an early night tonight.
It's only a game.
Your posts recently have been very sober. Well done.

So much silly hysteria

It’s not a pointless argument to make because you’re still making the mistake at its core.

The point of transfers is to improve performance on the pitch, not to buy players who come straight into the first team.

When you look at those signings you imagine them playing at their best level of performance for Man Utd… which in fact DOES NOT RECOGNISE ANY RISK.

You also ignore all the other things that have to be right (manager, coaching, tactics, strategy, morale, luck…) in order for performance to improve. These things completely swamp transfer business in determining performance on the pitch. Liverpool last season is a clear example - zero signings, overtook rivals who made many signings.
Yes it is pointless in a football forum thread dedicated to transfers. Basically in your world nobody can give an opinion on a transfer because nobody knows if they will perform for their new team or not.

The mistake you’re making is thinking fans don’t fully understand all the factors that come into play for a team to be successful, none of that negates the fact you need good players to succeed and buying players that are better than the ones you have, obviously gives you a better chance. No point even giving specific examples of that as it’s just an objective fact of football, look at every league, the teams with the most expensive squads, paying the most in wages are the ones that win.

Liverpool may not have made any signings last season but they had a core of players that had won the league and champions league before and also had a bit of luck with injuries. If signings aren’t that important why after winning the league are they having their biggest ever window ?

I think most fans are more sanguine. Fans online are not.

Of course you can offer an opinion on a transfer but the strength of your feeling should match the strength of your certainty.

For example « Man Utd have made some exciting attacking transfers but let’s see if they’ve managed to fix their problems with inconsistency, whether they will adapt to playing 3 at the back, whether Amorim can show a so far unseen ability to affect the game from the bench, and whether the coaching team can improve the players they already have ».

You see how many things need to go right for them that have nothing to do with transfers? England National Team can get away with big stars bailing them out against weaker opposition but that doesn’t work at club level.

Liverpool are in a position to make big signings precisely because they have got everything else right. That is pretty much the last place they can make incremental gains.

The problem is, bar a few contrarians, we all have the same opinion. It's barely even opinion anymore.
Levy and ENIC will never over stretch to gamble on us being a winning football team.
Everything is done with money we have in the bank or guaranteed to get within the coming year.

We have 25 years of proof.

So why do fans relentlessly expect and demand something different?
It's not gonna change. Nothing in any of the interviews Levy has given recently suggests he has changed opinion that organic growth is the only basis to grow.

It's just become tiresome watching the same argument play out and go round and round and round.

I remember the good old days.
When I wasn't a football fan as a kid.

How are we acting like we're on the brink of administration? I mean, no one is praising the window at this point, but your obsession is just delusional
Exactly , we are building a hotel and towers all over the gaff . We are not close to administration , we are also not close to being well run as a football team . We are the club for those that have a love of Sir Christopher Wren and Norman Foster over and above Greaves , Hoddle , Ardiles , Bale , Modric etc.

Win the PL and CL or drive past St Paul’s Cathedral on a bus , it’s frankly no contest .

Grealish on loan isn't the worst gamble but could very easily see this turning into Werner 2.0.

How have we just become such a small club again? All the money in the world and we are just trying to loan players off "bigger" teams! The same "bigger"teams who are chairman insits we need to compete with!
