Who's the player that's going to make me want to watch Tottenham fight for a top-half finish this year? There are no magicians like Gascoigne, Modric or Dembele. There are no prodigys like Bale, prime Son or Kane. There is no team Frank can send out on the pitch and I will think "damn, Player A isn't starting today". It's just meh. And that includes Frank for me. We're a team of more or less generic players, with a generic head coach. No X-factor at all, except for maybe an injury-prone Maddison. If we can fight for something real, fine. But we can't so we won't. I haven't felt this lack of excitement prior to a new season for as long as I can remember. And I don't know if there are any players out there that we can (realistically) sign that will change how I feel. Or maybe it's just me wishing I was a kid again....

This is a really good take... very lucid and honest and probably how much of the fan base is feeling. However, be prepared for a few insults about not being a real fan, transfer window is still open, Frank is genius and you haven't got a clue etc.

It's a mystery. World class facilities, world class coaching and not a single player has come through and made an impact since Kane which was over ten years ago.
 
I've been thinking why we are so inactive (yes I know we just signed Palhinha on loan 🙄) and it's got to be because we can't get rid of anyone. Even Biss doesn't look that close to an exit.

I think we are waiting to shift one or two higher earners before bringing anyone else except loans.

Sad state of affairs with the season approaching.

United have spent more than any club in world football bar Chelsea in the last 10 years and they're squad has been a mess for years. They're in a similar situation to us with players on high wages compared to their output and/or bad injury records that they struggle to get shot of.

I'm 100% we get another 10 in, still have a niggling tiny Harry Kane hunch.

Just popping on transfermarkt to view the business we have done and it doesn't make good reading at all. With Danso and Tel already here last year, vuskovic not deemed as ready and takai unlikely to have any impact its bad.

Pre summer I think most spurs fans probably thought 'we have some really good young talent, go out and buy 2 or 3 top players that are ready now'. Since then we have lost maddison also.

Let's see what today brings.

Shady’s My Chairman 💪, was pretty celebratory thinking about it . Although if I’m honest he would have been doing that as a wind up in my opinion . Others might not have seen the joke though

I come on this thread to read about potential transfers and not discussions on comparisons with past teams or constant insults to Levy. There are so many posts on here I have to skip most as soon as I realise it is not about a possible transfer. As Levy pointed out in the recent video, he does not get involved until the Technical team suggest a name. It is not down to Levy if we do not have a back up target following the recent failed purchase. To have got that far there must be 60m available and hopefully it will get spent.
Please keep this thread about potential transfers and not other matters.
