Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

My one note of context and calm, despite being very firmly in the we need 2/3 quality players, is that every club apart from that sh!t stain in West London has had at least one transfer window
I doubt it.

You can have all the money in the world, but if you can’t do what you love, you’ll be gutted.

Not to mention that the surgery and the rehab for an ACL is tough

I get the impression this would apply to Maddison more than some players.

Gee I'm sure glad we beat Man Utd to that Champions league place it really changed the direction of the two clubs.

We sure finished them off....

Their manager got backed heavily and ours was sacked and replaced by another yes man who is getting zero support.

You couldn't make it up, apart from the fact we've all seen the movie a 1000 times at this point
I think we're actually in TENET by Christopher Nolan and Shady or Airfix are Neil. We are the protagonist murdered, umpteen times and sent out to relive this circular endless apocalypse. With Levy as Anderi Sator. We've all seen this season before.

This all builds up to Grealish on loan on August 29th, we’ve seen this song and dance before. Maybe El Khannouss since he’s got a cheap relegation clause. But there’s no chance Levy sanctions a big-money move with this complex of a deal, the 50% sell-on and possible buy-back clause with Madrid involved.
It's not remotely complex ffs and people should really take note of that, because thinking it is gives some layer of excuse to the leadership of the club for not making it happen!

It is though. RM are the elephant in the room

Paz still has to agree to the move, what if they get in his ear and say we’ll buy you next summer, just stay at Como?

Additionally their 50% sell-on clause means that it’s not a straightforward negotiation. If they actually want to keep Paz, they’ll figure out a way.

Real Madrid will get more money than Como in any version of this deal

Either that or they will retain a cut-price option to get him back, but that ruins the deal from a Spurs perspective.

I said earlier i hadn't watched him play before although had heard of him before.

Having watched the good ol YouTube comps I think hes pretty good but raw but expected st just 20 playing as a number 10.

I do like players like this who are very good at thinking quickly and doing unorthodox moves at times to get out of tricky situations. Very street style footballer.

Seems mature with his play for a 20 year old, hard to tell from highlights but he can play intricately and a range of different passes when required. Looks strong enough plus argies are tough characters generally l.

These are always the most hardest decisions to make. He could well kick on at como, go to the world cup with argentina and set it alight and suddenly hes the next world star and we miss out. Alternatively he could stagnate and be alot of money wasted.

Personally I think 50m max which is 58m euros is the most id pay. You'd have to be pretty damn sure to pay more than that imo.

They have a 50% sell on, that's nothing to do with us, it just means they get a cut of whatever fee Como receive.

As for the buyback, you'd like to think we've sounded ot a player we were going to spend that much money on first, Madrid would have to match the bid apparently, and convince the player to go there.

Neither clause carries forward onto us.

So all we have to do is agree a fee and agree terms with a player, how is that "complicated"?

Unsustainable wins you the champions league twice, club world cup and winning the premier league 3 times. Just saying.
Watching the interview Levy seems to think that the regulations are going to even out the playing field for Spurs.
When the truth is, should that ever happen the big big boys would just take their ball and go and start up the super league for real.
If you want to match them for ambition you have to bend the rules and push the leverage.

This myth that the way big clubs are operating is "unsustainable" is just that a myth. The Super league WILL happen and the Americanisation will continue. There is too much money to be had.

I don't buy that Levy believes that the sustainable model will yield success, he's not interested in success despite all of his bluster. It's just the illusion of success he wants to promote.

Just enough to keep the natives from being too restless and keep bums on seats and the Spurs store full on a match day.

I've said this like a million times on here but people still don't get it.

The wee dwarf might be an excellent speaker but when it comes to Spurs and ambition in the same sentence he is totally full of shit.

Be amazed if he plays for us ever again. This might sound harsh and I'll probably get pelters but he hasn't been fit for best part of 18 months. Surely grounds for termination.

How are you not getting this?

Obviously RM don’t want to match our fee. How could they get around that?

Easy - they talk to Paz (a youth product who dreams of playing for them) and tell him to stay put in Como and reject Spurs. Then they just buy him back for €10m next summer, no matter how much we want him, we can’t convince a player who doesn’t want to come.

And again, agreeing a fee will be more difficult bc Como only receive half of it, meaning that they’ll only accept a huge fee in the £50-60m range as previously reported. I’m highly skeptical he’s worth that anyway.

It's important to understand the context with Paz.

Real Madrid have a buyback clause for 9M next summer and 10M the summer after. He is for all intents and purposes their player, even if they don't want to integrate him into their squad they are 100% certain to activate that clause and sell him themselves to book the profit.

He is essentially a Madrid player on loan at Como, except under a weird structure in which Como would also have to agree to a transfer and get paid for their interest in the player.

Even if it weren't Spurs and Levy, this is a nigh-upon-impossible deal to make.
There was another report that contradicted the 10m option and stated Real had to match any offer. Who knows which is true, as both are no doubt secret...

But if it were the 10m, they'd have to convince him to go there, which if they were just looking to flip him might be more difficult than you'd expect.

I've read it as more like a 50% ownership situation than a 50% sell-on.

But if it's a 50% sell-on with a right of first refusal for Madrid maybe it gets a little easier.

It's still tough to entice Como when they're only getting half the money. Paz is their best player for this coming season.
