Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It increasingly looks retarded. That and Kinsky. That's £47 million crazy with holes we have save some for Flange. Inexcusable incompetence
kinsky at least is elite with the ball at his feet and maybe has something that can be worked into something special. at 12m hes peanuts and a solid backup, shits over forster and austin.

wed also not make a massive loss on him if it doesnt work out...

United have made some serious moves this summer, I’m fairly in awe of their transfer activity and wish Spurs had even half of that ambition to improve the squad.

Like us they finished bottom of the league but have actually recognized that fact and invested accordingly. Hoping that Frank is going to turn this squad around into a top 5 team is simply naive.
I doubt anyone is thinking top 5, right now.

Pool, city, scum, chels, toon, villa all in the way.

As of now, top 7 and a domestic cup is a sane wish.

We have a much better manager than we had last season, it’s hard to predict where we actually fall in the best of the rest category outside the top 4, but it’s still a possibility they come above us again yeah. Would have been nice if we had used the Europa win/ champs qualification as a springboard to try and separate us from the rest of that pack, but we don’t seem interested in doing that.

You think it’s a certainty we come above Utd? And are you arguing that we have had a better window so far than Utd ??
I actually agree with you. It wouldn’t surprise me either way. Maybe we finish above them, maybe they finish above us.

But I am pointing to an inconsistency.
United finished above us last season.
If they have strengthened better than us, then you must be confident that they will finish above us?

My explanation is that by bringing in a great manager, and having an excellent coaching team, and having many young players who will naturally improve, and having better morale … we have actually strengthened far more than United. It’s just less visible. I also think there’ll be mean reversion so we will naturally improve more than them. So I think the gap will be negligible and come down to luck (injuries, playing teams at the right time, general randomness…).

You literally said yesterday that signings are only a part or success, and then when this guy intimates that you can buy well but it not create instant success (most notably because they’re tactically frail) you ask what signings are there for?

I wrote a reply to you yesterday which you haven’t responded to, but it’s quite clear that signings are A PART but not the be all and end all of success.

Right now, Utd have done some objectively decent business. Our window is very very average.

You’re a walking contradiction and all over the place.
I was on a 6 hour flight yesterday so I missed it. Link or quote it and I’m happy to reply.

I’m not all over the place. When I ask questions like that I am asking them to create coherence. The position you correctly attribute to me is the explanation but if you’ve spent time arguing otherwise, then how do you create a coherent position?

In another post to him today, I gave him credit for apparently coming to the conclusion that the transfer window is only a small part of success. But in the next breath he is pretending a small part of success is in fact… decisive ?

Notice how we were the sole club in for Solanke whereas Mbuemo had a multitude of suitors. Notice how he scored more from the wing than Solanke from CF as well as getting a whole bunch of assists. Notice how he had numerous productive prem seasons under his belt vs one.

Some of you just don’t get it. It’s not the transfer fee spent. Richarlison was expensive. Nobody else wanted him.

Mbeumo is a better player than Solanke. He just is. I don’t mind Solanke, he’s a good premier league CF. Mbuemo is a TOP PL winger.
We signed Solanke off the back of a very similar career year for a very similar standing club.

It didn’t work out exactly as planned last year and now he needs to be replaced because he ain’t good enough according to some.

I will be shocked if Mbuemo hits the same numbers he did last season. Good player, but so is Solanke and it’s laughable to me that one is considered a Mickey Mouse signing now and the other is a club statement of intent.

My brain sucks at math, help me with this one.

Real Madrid has a 50% sell-on clause for Nico Paz and ALSO has a right of first refusal for any deal.

So in any deal Como is only getting half the money.

That means Real Madrid can exercise their right of first refusal and purchase Paz themselves for HALF what Spurs would be paying, right? They only have to chip in the share of the money Como would be getting.
They can, but over the sake of €10-15m, which is absolute chump change to them, it's just easier to take the sell on bonus.

Spot on.

Let's be real here, we haven't even done the bare minimum this window which was to bring in 3 top players.

We have signed Kudus who has just come off the back of a poor season. We all know if Kudus had actually played well last season he'd be at Chelsea right now.

We signed Palinha on loan, he's a decent player who should hopefully do well, but it's not ambitious move from us by any stretch.

That's it. That's our window so far.

We've lost Son for good, and Maddison for a year. Failed to sign a top LW, failed to sign a top 10.

We are light at CB, when VDV misses 3 months of the season inevitably, we will have Danso (and nobody decent to rotate him with) and Davies filling in.

We have no back up to Udogie. Spence cannot cover both LB and RB on his own across four competitions. So Davies will have to fill in.

it's a shit show.

That isn't even talking about all the goals and assists we've lost from the team.

I do not know what fans expect, but my optimism for the season has vanished.

Simply put, who will create and score our goals? Tel and Odobert have absolutely no record to suggest they will score 6 goals between them across a league season. They might get 3 each.

Johnson is our best goal contributor and he shouldn't even be starting.

Solanke has struggled at times and can't seem to stay fit.

I just don't get how the club can be happy with the squad, a ridiculous amount of faith is being put on two really young kids in Odobert and Telvto perform consistenty, it's insane.

Whilst United have signed Cunha and Mbuemo will have a proven record in this league of delivering goals and assists. It's levels.
Great post.

Let's just end this here. Mbuemo is a vastly superior player to Solanke, let's not play pretend.

He might've put up huge numbers last year, but since he's been in the league, he's been very, very good. 3 years of consistent performances, with a gradually incline.

Solanke has been in England his whole career. He had one good goal scoring PL season. And offers vastly less than Mbuemo does. Sure, he can press, but that's his thing. I know I'd be much more confident of Mbuemo scoring when presented with a good opportunity than Solanke.

I doubt Mbuemo scores as much as he did last year, because that often happens when the Star player of a mediocre team goes to a very good team, with other very good players. But it's not going to be as significant a drop as we seen with Solanke.

You really can't compare the two. I know which is rather have.

Surely grounds for termination.
Bit 'arsh....

Surely Real would have told Paz agent already if they plan to bring him back in the case of another club coming in?

Real probably happy to take the money? They’ve been hawking Rodrygo out all summer as well
