Surely how good a transfer window is revolves around the context of the squad at the time also?

The Ndombele and Lo Celso window was done on the back of a declining squad, but with some World Class players still available. It was disappointing, ultimately led to years of downfall, but was done off the back of consecutive top 4 finishes and a Champions League final.

This window and last is worse because they are more urgent, and we are entrenching midtable status by not acting.

This window isn't even over yet; let alone revealed its impact.

I’m reassured, but also alarmed by Frank’s latest quotes.

Reassured in the sense he realises we need to replace Son because Tel and Odobert are nowhere near up to it.

That’s where that feeling ends.

How the fuck have the club let Son go and not already identified and brought in a Son replacement? Frank clearly wants and needs one. The fans need one. The team needs one. It’s absurd.

Not to mention not yet signing a number 10. But the Son one to me is beyond comprehension. It’s obvious we needed a game changing elite LWF to come in and three weeks left until the close of the window we are left looking for “opportunities”

Frank is being held out to dry. I feel for him. He’s an excellent coach but he’ll be sacked because the club will have yet again failed another manager. What does the club expect he can do with Tel and Odobert as part of the attack? They are so off the level needed right now.

The club are fucking up yet another season leaving a manager dreadfully short.

Let’s not forget Ange was clueless but he was left short last summer when we signed Odobert and Gray and Solanke. Look back, what a shocking summer window that was. I said it at the time the season would be a disaster.
I could tell just by our summer business and the fact we had Ange. I said even though he was a terrible manager, due to our summer business he simply had no chance of surviving.

The same will happen to Frank unless we pull in 3 top signings before the window closes

Every summer the managers are left out to hang.

I don’t see us getting into the top half, maybe 8th at best. Our attack is lower half mid table quality at this moment.

Less games too.... Although we enter the LC earlier this season thx to our shit league position.

And the fact that the FACup kicks off later in the season comes into play.

It's confusing. Son already told them he was leaving in June. They sat on their hands, so we assume they thought we are good with Tel and Odobert. Then suddenly it's a priority, so we are not good with Tel and Odobert. It's a shambles mate.
 
At this moment I just see disappointment ahead and finishing top half is the best we can hope for. In saying that 3 decent signings can transform us. A creative player and a centre forward who can score goals regularly turn you from mid table to top 4. There’s not much between so many teams in and around the champs league spots.
To be honest though champions league means nothing in terms of progressing and going forward as the club have already shown this summer with our lack of signings.
I hate feeling this way but there is fuck all excitement of going into a new season with a new manager for me.
It shouldn’t be this way. This club!!!!!

Why’s it always got to be about “if the right opportunity arises”? Why do we not do what every other big club does and identify the best player available for the position, and go spend the money to get them?

Because this club has horrible transfer strategy and planning. A smart club recognises we already have two up and coming LW to develop in moore and odobert so they go all out on a quality ready made LW to replace son. But the geniuses at our club thought let’s sign tel another up and coming LW for 30 mil who we’ve already seen do fuck all for 6 months whilst he was on loan. So now we have 3 LW under the age of 21 who aren’t ready to be a starting winger for a top premier league club.

It’s beyond absurd mate. I’m sick of it. I’m sorry but we are just fans, if we can see Tel and Odobert are nowhere near up to it for this season, surely the club are aware? Surely Frank knows he’s on a hiding to nothing?

I don’t understand how the club have let an iconic player leave in Son and we are seemingly nowhere near replacing him. Everyone knew Tel was nowhere near up to it judging by his performances last season, funds are always tight, so why did we sign him? We already had a prospect in Odobert here. Instead we spent decent money on Tel. We’d have been better off saving that money and spending 90 million on replacing Son with a top player. Instead we spent 35 on Tel and probably only now have 50 to replace Son.

It’s ridiculous. The club are a fucking joke

For me excitement lies in your attacking capabilities.

We've gone from Kane and Son to Richy and Johnson. I can't get excited by that.

It's the first time in my life that I don't get to watch at least 1 elite/world class forward at Spurs.

80m on Gray and Tel. Could have had Eze for that.
 
McAtee would be a decent signing, but it should be him + another 10.

Kulu is not even a 10 and Maddison is out for the season / potentially never back to the levels we need.

They’re all enthusiastic at the start. They all think they’re gonna be the one to change things.

Then the little bald vampire sinks his teeth into them and slowly sucks all that enthusiasm right out of them by replacing their best players with 19 year old prospects from Ligue 1 and wingers who’ve had a purple patch in the Eredivisie.

Wait and see how enthusiastic Frank is in 18 months time.

And we are now going to spend on a centre back apparently, because our medical staff didn't spot that a footballer has a problem with his foot.
