Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Some fans trying to talk themselves into McAtee being a good signing who at 22 has made 48 premier League appearances for a total of 2,200 mins so he has played equivalent of 24 full 90 minute games in PL. He might turn out to be a good player but he sure as shit ain't the player we need in our current position
When you been starving for weeks, a rotten piece of food looks mightily appealing.

It absolutely has the humiliation factor for a multi billion football club to have its own fans setting up a gofundme page. Obviously Levy would try to laugh it off but it would show him up and have the media all over it. One of worlds richest clubs fans are so fed up that they start a gofundme page.
Would it make a difference? I dunno with someone who has such thick skin, but it would cause significant embarrassment and raise the difficult question of “why” we’re always scrambling around at the end of a transfer window with glaring holes in the the squad to fill.
On a side note, a mate of mine once put an advert in the local paper advertising a monkey in need of an organ grinder with another mates number as the contact.
It was hilarious when the poor bloke saw it. He never did find out who did it, but it was a lot of fun watching him squirm and “investigate” the culprit
Levy doesn't take public embarrassment well. At all.

If a big brand was backing it, and some former players - big names - also joined in, the media would be all over it for a week and Levy would've nowhere to hide, he'd have to respond.

This is why he hates the protests and the media coverage that goes with them.
Those that say they're pointless and he doesn't care about them are talking out of their arse crack.

Is it true that Eze's contract expires in 2027?

Potential suitors might be playing the waiting game if this is the case. He doesn't seem like the type that'll commit his peak years to a mid table club.

Palace shouldn't be messing around with this, losing both him and Guehi for highly discounted prices (if not for nothing) could potentially be ruinous.

Can we collectively agree not to fall for the same bullshit next summer?

Big spending spree as the time is right?
Nope

Big investment?
Nope

Levy stepping away from football?
Nope

Not really, for me. Im not embarrassed by what the board does. I am by what other fans do because thats who I get associated with.

The manager and the group of players he has deserve to be given the opportunity to show what they have got before a group of idiots go protest and let them know they don't think they are good enough before they've even seen them play a competitive match .
Define 'idiots'....there are so many to choose from at any given game mostly fueled by (hic) alcohol 🍸.

My frustration with the protests is in regard to the application of them. Direct it at the Board not the players ffs. The protests are becoming a barometer on how we are playing and based on results therefore affecting the players more than their intended target. Personally I'd (ideally) prefer them to be held en mass outside the ground prior to kick off and again after full time.

Protests at half time are unrealistic due to the fire drill (or dash for a bevy) that occurs every matchday commencing circa the 30th minute.

Add to that the protesters are generally scattered in smaller groupings around the stadium and can look sporadic and less vociferous than they would if they were all gathered in the same location.

A further negative is the enthusiasm within the protests fluctuates in tandem with team performance i.e. if we're on a run of wins the noise dies down, if we are on a bad run and stinking the place out the temperature rises and no Spurs fan is going to wish for that are they?

Caught up with my Dutch pal who supports PSV earlier. Apparently there's a fair bit of chatter going on between their fans that Joey Veerman will be off to the PL before the window closes. He reckons it'll be somewhere like Brentford, Brighton, Fulham...or Spurs.

Obviously he ain't ITK and neither am I, but thought I'd share.

Feels right up Levy's street the more I look at it, to be honest. He's 26yo, got experience in the CL and on the international stage, can play a variety of positions (6, 8 & 10)...but mainly you're looking at a 30 odd mil fee and wages round the 60k mark (he makes 30k pw at PSV).

Good player, I like him and I'd have him over Grealish and that McAtee lad. But does he move the needle? Not sure. Type of signing we should make for backups, not starters.

Was a few rumours even Real are looking at him.

Would be an intriguing pick up for sure

That one sentence, my friend, is worth a thousand words in summing up Daniel Levy’s Tottenham Hotspur and where we find ourselves right now.

Well I hope it’s Brentford,Brighton or Fulham because I’ve seen him loads and he’s been poor every time. Constantly gives the ball away unless he is passing it 10 yards sideways or backwards.

He’s like a poor man’s Winks

Morgan Gibbs-White AND Veerman would've been solid business. Them two plus Gallagher would've been spectacular, transformative type business. Especially if we'd also shifted Biss and Rodders.

Veerman/Archie - Gallagher/Sarr/Bergvall - MGW/Madders...imagine them midfield options and how confident you'd feel about a top 4 finish, making the CL last 16/quarters and winning the FA Cup.

But yeah you're looking at a spend of circa 150mil and MGW & Gallagher would've asked over 100k pw...well over in the CG's case. While selling Biss & Bent only recoups 40ish mil.

And we are so poor, so very poor.

He ain't elite, sure, but the comparison is a bit harsh.

Winksy plays in the Champo and his England career is over. Veerman plays for PSV, is always good for a few goals & assists in the CL, and makes the Holland NT squad regularly.

Like I said originally, not an A-lister but if he came in as a backup, we could do worse.
