Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Transer fees include guaranteed and add-ons, mate. Hence "will end up."

Sure, but by x-amount of that fee being wrapped up in potential adds ons that mitigates the risk doesn't it.

Much like there's a diff between us paying MC £70m for Sav vs us paying £50m (+ £20m potential add-ons).

You asked if anyone has ever paid that money for a 20-year old and I gave you two examples. The Wirtz one was to show that, yes very young players not older than 20/21/22 can command insane transfer fees.

The question I asked was more specific than that, but yeh.... Wirtz isn't risk-free I accept that.

I didn't question whether you rate Solanke or not...

The simple fact is your comparison to those you 3 mentioned was fundamentally flawed.
What point are you trying to make? That it's somehow better to grossly overpay for a known quantity who will never be worth that amount than take a risk on a player abroad because they haven't proven it in the PL? If Gyokeres flops at Woolwich does that mean we should be happy that we spent £65m on Solanke? Because we might have spent it on a player who flopped, but it's ok, because instead we spent it on a player who probably wouldn't make Liverpool's current bench?
I'm confused.

I understand feeling the need to justify his signing since he still plays for us and is still at a juncture where he could prove at least a worthwhile signing if not a little expensive, but I refuse to believe anyone thinks £65m was his true value, even Bournemouth fans must have been pretty shocked when we paid up what was essentially a "fuck off" price put on a player to deter bids.

You're just strawmanning me now........

You said yourself; HG tax and paucity of options at the time dictated his price..... It is what it is.

Ah man I was reading L'Equipe this morning and seen there was trouble between he & Rabiot at Marseille, so likely they gonna boot the former into touch. Levy special incoming.
Rabiot put on the transfer list at Marseille cause he had his ass handed to him by Rowe, who is a midget. They had a right fight apparently. Now both transfer-listed.

You just know COYS Daniel is thinking about it ha! And that some cunt on SC gonna make up a story like they've heard something from their source etc.

It does mitigate the risk, but it also depends on the add-ons. Some are ridiculously easy to achieve. I have a hunch we're negotiating something similar with City, rather than £70m guaranteed. More like 60+10, or thereabouts.

I've not "given up".... There's just no need for me to start.

Several people agreed with my post so I can't have been talking in some kind of alien dialect.
OK pal.
Forest can buy all the players they like. They won't be as good as last season in my opinion.

Marinakis is their achilles heel.
I don't think they'll do much in the league tbh, it's pretty much standard that any team either debuting in Europe or returning to it for the first time has a fucking horrific mid-season with all the fixture pile-up in Dec/Jan and having to adapt to 2 (sometimes 3!) games a week, not to mention the extra 2 games they've chucked in to the group stage dragging it on into January now, not to mention there is an entire season of footage of Nuno's Forest to study now, their results from Jan onwards were much less impressive than their early season form last season already. I'd have them down to finish 10th-13th.

Won't believe it until Hercules tells us he already knew.
