Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

To be fair, I don't disagree with that. Very good player, but anything over 50m and he's got to be consistently great (yes, I thought Solanke was massively over-priced, but we were taken advantage of, as we are with Eze).

55m with add-ons, fine, we're over a barrel.

Yeah but they’d have offered him bigger wages than us anyway.

They have Rice on £12m per year. Eze would want the same.

We have Maddison on £8m per year so even if we paid Eze 10m, that’s still an extra 8-10m total transfer cost so makes up for the difference in fee they apparently wanted to pay…

Sounds like bullshit to me. Woolwich are apparently right on the edge of the UEFA FFP
limits so more likely they were choosing between Madueke or Eze.

In the same way that signing Eze is great for our brand because we are signing a top level player in their prime, having loads of fanciful links out there to appease fan unrest feels exactly like something this club has done before

The thing that continues to make absolutely no sense about this “Levy deliberately goes on wild goose chases to appease the fans” theory is that when these players don’t actually end up coming in the fans are liable to be even more upset than they already were. So there is literally no benefit to supposedly doing this.

Eze has been one of the better players in the premier league for a long time. £55m isn't getting bent over. Solanke had an anomaly of a season, he's never got close to numbers like that and because of diabolical planning they panicked into going for him.

Eze is probably undervalued of anything. If/when he arrives you'll be saying that he was a snip. He's a ridiculous footballer.

Didn't know that, cheers. Sound reasonable and should allay the fears of some who are sweating this. I'm just bored of it now. Even if it does happen, it'll be too little too late unless we get Savinho or Akliouche as well.

To emphasize the urgency of the situation that we're in, people here often ask what the plan B for us would be in case this deal falls through.

But,to find out who actually has more leverage in this, we also need to ask the same from Palace's perspective.

There's no bidding war, the guy has 2 years left in his deal plus is not signing a new one, and is already at the peak of his career. What they are being offered at the moment is the best they'll ever be able to get for him.

Are they going to sabotage this because they might have slight grievances about add-ons and payment plans? At the risk of having to sell him for half the price next summer? Are they secretly confident that he would extend in case he doesn't move this summer? What's going on here?

I hope so! I can see the talent, but I haven't watched enough Palace games to see his consistency, which some have questioned.

Richy, Dom, and Johnson again all arguably overpriced and whilst I generally tend to agree, this kind of pronouncement usually comes from an unqualified source rather than anything that can be relied upon. The most accurate way to calculate the value of something is determined by whatever the buyer is prepared to pay.

They are now because they aren’t buying it anymore. Levy has used up all that good will but there was a lot of understanding and good will from the fans for these failed transfers… and for a long time as well

To be fair, I watch a good bit of Palace because I like their core group of players. But he plays in a team that will try and play football, but against the very good teams, he can get starved of the ball and have little outlet. Over the past year or so though, he's really taken his game up a big level. Put him in a better team with other options and he's going to thrive.

He's one of 3 championship players in recent years I was crying out to he signed, all 3 of which ended up at Palace haha but him, Olise and Wharton I loved. I didn't see Morgan Rogers being as good as he is to be fair. But those 3, you knew would be class.

Trouble with buying from premier league, every club is super rich.
No way is savinho worth more than 45 million either really, hasn't done anything
