I think Levy fanied around with Eze cos hes 27> we dont pay big money for them types of players.

Akilouche, Savinho, Paz is more his profile. Never thought for a second we'd get eze.
Yeah he probably had no intention of finalising the deal unless it was on highly favourable terms that Palace were never going to accept.

What he probably didn't count on was the injury to Havertz and Woolwich coming straight back in to clean up and leave him looking like an almighty twat with egg all over his face

It is fucking mad that we WON the Europa League and yet United and Woolwich who won NOTHING are signing huge players while we are doing fuck all.

Only our fans think winning the EL is some huge deal. It has been won by so many average clubs. It is firmly viewed in the footballing world as a second tier trophy that is beneath the top clubs. And we won it whilst being terrible in the worst final ever. Nobody is under any illusion that this trophy is something we will make a habit of.

It's a big deal to us as a club and the fans due to being starved for so long and wanting just anything - it isn't going to help attract players. Players will look at the Woolwich project and despite them not winning anything they got to a CL semi final and got 2nd. They are competing in matches the genuinely top players want to be competing. Eze wants to be playing against Madrid in the CL quarters, this is what players dream of .. not Frankfurt on a Thursday night.

We have CL though, we played in a Super Cup match just a week ago. If there was ever going to be a moment to use our “pull” it would’ve been this window, which puts into perspective just how catastrophic this failure really is.

Warra trophy? :cautious:

The supercup means nothing. It's a friendly. No player is going to look at that game and choose us based on us playing in it.

I'm sure every player knows what we're like as well, and while we're in the CL this year we don't do enough to be in consistently.

We have CL this year and anyone who has been following the club knows that with the current squad we are more likely than not to miss Europe next year and who knows when we’ll be back.

Woolwich, Liverpool, and city are basically guaranteed to be in the CL every year with the squads they have. Chelsea are also a likely bet. There’s probably about 3-4 other teams favored over us in the league but we could finish ahead of some of them, but not likely all.

Lovely title for an article about Spurs transfer 'strategy'...

Weird that the link doesn't display the title which is...

'Reeking of desperation?' - who could Spurs turn to next?
That’s a quote from a Spurs fan TBF.

Levy just doesn’t care about us- every purchase is a value-chasing bargain, everything needs to be a deal that is won. We buy only emerging talent, and only loan any ready made talent. Dude is playing FM- but trying to make the most money instead of trying to win at the sport itself.

I wanted to sign Eze definitely but he's not a top top player he is 27 and has barely played for England.
I'm disappointed and angry at ENIC/levy.
I want us to sign players to take us forward now and it's clear that we will scrapping the barrel again.
After MGW if we wanted Eze then we should have gone for him then and set a deadline to allow time to move on to the next target
I have always wondered that if Eze is such a stud, up until Woolwich became involved why were Spurs the only club linked to him?

Neither United or Woolwich are our rivals.

Woolwich are streets ahead of us and our first season manager.

United are re-building.

Toon and Palace both won Cups, how many players have they signed?

We have retained Cuti, Eze, Gueri amd Izak all want out of Cup winning teams.

Think about that.

Hmmmmm....

I think thats a dumbing down measure if I am being honest.

Not many players leave us unless we wear them to.

Savinho, Paz and Akliouche are actually young chancers themselves btw, for people turning their nose up at Dibling. They’re hardly more experienced than he or El Khannouss is, Akliouche being the most experienced of the group.

If we do get one - which seems unlikely - we have to be prepared for the growing pains there too. That’s what frustrates me so much about Eze. This is now guaranteed to be a transition year where we will have to build for the future. With Eze/MGW it could’ve been a real CL contention year.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner speaking about the absence of forward Eberechi Eze on Channel 5: "I expected that he would start today for us but he called me this morning and said he does not feel well to play the game. I have to accept it and everything else you will have to ask the chairman.
It doesn't take away from the fiasco but Eze is starting to look like a bit of a wanker.
