Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

2 prem alternatives to Eze and Savinho that are arguably just as good and might even be cheaper are Paqueta and Ndiaye.

Ndiaye is probably better than Savinho in this moment in time. Certainly looked better in the prem last season. Eze had a way better season than Paqueta last year but if you go back 2 summers, City nearly signed Paqueta for over 80m while Eze wasn't even the main man at Palace. Both are 27 so Paqueta has already shown he can be as good as Eze and no reason he can't go one better.

They'd be the 2 I want anyway but not seeing any links to either which is annoying.
We’re mad not to test West Ham for Paqueta, I’m almost certain we could get him with a part exchange with Bissouma and maybe £30m.

The pattern is that the majority there are from 2008 to 2015. We were pretty good at transfers then. Since 2016 its been mostly dreadful. Football has changed so much in terms of spend and identfying players andcl we've been left behind.

Romero, Sarr, Van Der Ven are all post 2015, although we are yet to see if the latter 2 are in that highest echelon.

We need to recognise the issue is we don't get it right often enough as opposed to get it wrong all the time.

And we can't say some of our newer potential won't be realised.

For now we need to hear some good news today.

Fair enough then fill your boots and sell up to some fucker who can.

I hope we dont go buying anybody thats just going to clog up squad places and we will struggle to sell in a year or 2. I think frank is smarter then that and his comments this window has kinda backed that up.

At the same time there's very few options that tick the boxes. A 10 is a must even if we plan to play some games with sarr or bergvall at 10 to be more solid.
Lw is also a big big worry. If kudus gets injured we are fooked. And if we dont upgrade lw then teams will just shut down the rw space knowing there's very little threat from the other side.

Let's face it, whoever we sign now is going to be over priced. Teams know we are desperate and most of the top young players we are looking at will be expensive because of there potential.

Just to give an idea...

Como want 60m euros for paz, thats 52m pounds. Most because he is seen as future star no10. Hes not completely ready now but hes only 20 and a similar player to maddison in style, more robust but much better than maddison was at 20. Expensive and needs time.

City want 65m pounds for savinho i think? If you think thats expensive thats actually a better deal that the 52m for paz right now and he would have a much bigger impact. I know alot of people are shitting on the quality of savio but I think otherwise. Creativity, chaos, paired with kudus and absolute nightmate for teams to defend wide areas. Only 1 goal last season but played by pep in a completely different way to what suits him and hes already proven in the past he knows where the goal is. Future world star imo.

Akliouche. Monaco want around 50m. This is a difficult one, and the riskiest too. Hes mainly played rw but also plays 10. Hes 23 and although looks a good player I just dont see a player with high ceiling and traits that translate well to the pl. Hes fairly one paced and although a big frame hes not particularly strong. Good passer though. Expensive and risky.

I think most of the others mentioned are absolutely not good enough. Dibling would well and truly cement the joke of missing outdone eze. Fofana is still very raw and not much of an upgrade on odobert right now, leao unlikely to be an option liked by frank imo.

Rogers is the very very best option. Even at 80m-85m would represent the best value and certainty for the money. He essentially is plug and play for us, young, English and room to improve but hes an absolute powerhouse of a player. Would be a dream signing.

Why the fu k didn’t he just pay what was needed? Been done to death but f me he must be going senile, only explanation. 65M for Eze is great value for money ffs.

I can’t post what I really think about ‘Daniel’ tbh.

Listen the the VFTL pod, James Maw and Danny Kelly summed it up perfectly, he’s a terrible negotiator who can’t sign big players in their primes. He never has, no matter what position the team has been in with respect to competing for Major honors and he never will.

As long as Levy has any involvement in this football club, we aren’t winning the PL nor the CL that he claims to covet.

And every time he fails, like this summer, it’s the fans who still pick up the tab and take all the flack.
Last season I decided I would no longer spend a penny on Spurs until Levy is out or he spends what our rivals spend (wages and purchases). For a week or two I thought I’d have start going again, but it’s turned out ok!

I’d like to say hypothetically speaking, but with spurs it’s probably a reality.

Would people prefer:
  1. We sign players that don’t fit the squad/ aren’t good enough, not talking about young punts, or;
  2. We don’t sign anyone.

I’m at the stage where I genuinely don’t know. We seem to be quite good at doing option 1, and are subsequently unable to move them on.
