Seems an awful lot like someone who was pressured into doing something that he didn’t want to do by someone who knew he was going through a difficult time in his personal life and didn’t need the aggravation of a potential legal battle.

I feel for him tbh.
I keep banging this drum, but we should be speaking to his agent, and if there’s any possibility of it happening, we should go back in for him.

The lad wanted to come here, he was clearly threatened by that fat mafia boss to sign a new contract. If we stick £75m on the table and he tells Fatboy he wants to go, surely that’s enough. They’ve signed 2 number 10’s in this window.

£75m on MGW is a lot less of a gamble than either£60m for Paz or Akliouche.

Eze & Marinakis are the cunts of this window; not CP & MGW.

Of course we are attractive, pay the money players will come.

You pick exceptions about other clubs failing to get players. Woolwich have signed Zubimendi after approaching him in January, 6 months. They also signed Eze, Gyokores, Madueke, they've had a great summer. Who can forget Rice for 100 million.

Chelsea will get Simons this week and practically always get who they want. Liverpool also pretty much always get what they want. You are talking about Isak, he's a very specific hard deal to do. That isn't the rule for them it's the exception. They signed Wirtz and Ekitike for fuck sake.

You aren't proving the case you think you are, and you're being very dishonest by trying to make out like our rivals are as pathetic in the market as we are, they aren't. They are ambitious. We aren't.

It also has nothing to do with "online wind up merchants", I am talking about many years of proven incompetence and fiscal impotence in the transfer market by Levy, who are you kidding trying to deny this isn't the case?
You’re being dishonest. There’s very little difference between how much we spend and how much our rivals spend.

Over five seasons we’ve spent more than liverpool and a little less than City and Woolwich. We are getting deals done and we are spending money. That’s the truth. Cherrypicking deals is what you’re doing.

If we get Savinho then the difference spent between us and Woolwich / City will be negligible. We’ll only be about 50m behind United over a five year period which is nothing and they’re the second biggest spenders in world football over the last five years.

Chelsea are a massive outlier. They have spent 70% more than the second biggest spenders (United) in that time period. And really, what have they done in the last five years? Not enough to justify that spending.

So rather than throwing out words like “incompetence” be specific. Your claims about not spending money or getting deals done don’t align with the facts. If you have criticisms, make them. I do too. But if you have an argument, you won’t need to make shit up.

And that's not even really true, if City refuse to sell, price isn't going to sway them within any kind of reason
But City aren't refusing to sell... why would Savinho be excited by the role we have for him if City are refusing to sell? Surely, the only way he could be excited by the role is if we were talking to him and or his agent... and unless we're openly tapping up, those conversations are only happening because we've got City's permission.

A football fan talking about it's better not signing a player at his peak because he has no resale value? fuck man you've been Levy'd hard
I mean sure, let's just spunk money because it's a big club thing to do.

Charlie Day Ok GIF

I wanted Eze in, but in the cold light of day there were reasons it wouldn't have been the perfect signing (Woolwich duplicity aside), and there's no harm in discussing those.

Describe it in different terms than 'resale value' then. Maybe longevity instead. Look at Son - we got a decade out of him. Eze on (I assume) mega wages and a probable decline in a few years wouldn't have been ideal.

In comparison, I'd rather we spend higher on getting Savinho.

Over 5 years we've spent on what? Brian Gil, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Royal, Sanchez.......and a whole Kindergarten. Who decided on that? The managers? Don't think so.

Maybe Poch with Ndombele. But that is it.

Probably bullied by Marinakis as much as MGW was.
But that's the thing, right?

MGW is a 25 year old of limited education who had a fiancee going through a troubled pregnancy amid all this, he was always a vulnerable figure amid this kind of saga.

That's exactly what agents are for, and MGW is represented by one of the most prominent and influential firms in the industry.

And now he's being mocked by opposing fans as a hostage to a two-bit gangster? What the fuck happened here? Why on earth did he sign away his leverage with that new contract?

That's the kind of thing an agency drops a client over if they insist on proceeding against the agency's advice.

No idea tbh..... I just tend to assume them to be greedy leeches for the most part.

.......Maybe BFG paid his agent off?

I suppose we'll never know the exact details, but one imagines that there was a two-fold threat from Marinakis:

- You'll rot in the reserves for the rest of your contract
- I know there was a breach of confidentiality from your end, I've got enough proof, and if you don't sign this new deal then I'll drag you through the courts over it

All while his wife was having said troubled pregnancy and the birth was imminent.

So if that was the case, I get it. Definitely feel sorry for him. The proof that he was between a rock and a hard place is the fact he signed that new deal: there's simply no way any player in his situation would have done that otherwise.

Genuinely doubly sorry that we couldn't get him away from that circus.

If MGW were represented by his gormless slack-jawed lookalike Charlie Gibbs-White, that would be much more plausible.

CAA Stellar's reputation is more valuable to them than anything Marinakis could offer, and they have the knowledge and means to contest any illegality on his part.
