Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You conveniently leave out wages. The simple fact is, and I don't even understand why you are disagreeing. We do not show the ambition in the market which our rivals do. It's not debatable. We target specific subset of players which fit into our tight wage structure, and fit into our transfer range, which is generally sub 60 million.

It seems Levy was willing to push the boat out for Eze as an exception, but that probably would have meant no Savinho when we needed both.

The Savinho signing would actually be a step change IMO, because it isn't the type of signing we usually make. Thing is, we haven't signed him yet, and we probably won't.

For me Woolwich are the best comparison, because we have similar revenues and they aren't a oil club etc and just look at the ambition they have shown in the market.

They signed Rice for 100 million.
They beat Liverpool to the signing of Zubimendi.
Signed Eze
Gyokores was one of the most in demand strikers in Europe, whether he's turns out any good is another matter.
They built upon the excellent foundations they had by signing some very good players like Saliba and Gabriel cheap. This has allowed them to go from top 4 to title challengers.

We have got similar foundations, but we won't kick on and do what Woolwich did by sprinkling the team with top top quality. That is where my problem is with Levy.

The players we need to kick on, the extra quality we won't do.

We simply won't get there by signing the likes of El Kannoush. It's mental to think otherwise. Woolwich didn't. Liverpool didn't, they went and signed Van Djik and Allison for huge money.

We under Levy will never do that, and subsequently we will never take that step to real challenger for the biggest trophies.

We actually have most of the team there, we have the manager in place, but Levy will leave us short and we will miss our chance. He won't give the manager the tools, like FSG did with Klopp and now Slot, like Kroenke did with Arteta.

We do not need the likes of El Kannoush, not coming in as our main man anyway, we need elite talent to push us on. Savinho is one of those.
Pal, you're trying to talk some sense into someone who just doesn't have it in him. At all.

He's not only the most arrogant and obnoxious on here (a feat considering the company he's in, with two posters especially), thinking he knows better than everyone on planet earth, many of us suspect he's a club stooge on Levy's payroll.

And when you go at him with facts, he'll openly ignore it and twist & bend it to fit his narrative.

Or he'll call you a racist over several posts, like he did to me a while back...something our beloved Admin never banned him for by the way.

I admire your enterprise, devotion and patience, but save yourself the trouble my good man. He really, really ain't worth engaging with.

I don't know if the big clubs think this way, but I can't see Man City letting Spurs have a defining player to build around. The Big Four are in a kind of exclusive club and probably quite happy to keep new members out. Savinho could be that sort of player, and for that reason I don't see the deal happening.

Don’t you guys get bored discussing the exact same thing regarding Levy and transfers and net spend?

Bill Murray Well Its Groundhog Day Again GIF

None of you are saying anything new that the guys on the counter argument side haven’t heard a million times and won’t change their mind and vice versa.
I get bored more reading such posts.

Man bags have been a thing for a few years now. Pretty useful if you’re not wearing anything with zips.

And if you’re wondering no, I haven’t got one, but I’ve definitely considered it 😂
Every bloke in Spain has a man bag

Took me a good while to get used to seeing fellas walking around with these purses stapped to their hip

I always refused …. I couldn’t do it… and now thank god Apple made it so I could bin my wallet … it was getting close

But that's the thing, right?

MGW is a 25 year old of limited education who had a fiancee going through a troubled pregnancy amid all this, he was always a vulnerable figure amid this kind of saga.

That's exactly what agents are for, and MGW is represented by one of the most prominent and influential firms in the industry.

And now he's being mocked by opposing fans as a hostage to a two-bit gangster? What the fuck happened here? Why on earth did he sign away his leverage with that new contract?

That's the kind of thing an agency drops a client over if they insist on proceeding against the agency's advice.
We don't know what is entailed in that new contract though, and his agent would have negotiated that.

Agencies are there to advise, not order. If it was MGW that leaked the contract details, as has been reported, then Forest have proof of that, then his Agent has to salvage something for his Client. If that meant taking on an extra year, with his wages nigh on tripled, then he's done his job well. I'd guess that there's other clauses in there that protect MGW's rights if he wants to move.

One thing is for sure, it'll be interesting to see what his price is next Summer. There wasn't anyone other than us interested in him this season for £60M, he'll have to have a barnstorming season now for them to have any realistic chance of getting more, as a bidding war will be needed. If his heart isn't in it though, then there's a slim chance of that happening.
