Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If we stopped pretending we are going to spend 130m on Paz and Savinho and went and got Nkunku (loan/option), Akliouche and BEK, we would massively improve the team/squad. Even fucking Sancho loan/option would upgrade Johnson.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure you are more au fait with the rights and wrongs, pluses and negatives of PSR than I am, but as I understand it we are 300m in the Black, as long as we don't exceed 105m in the Red over the next 3 years, which I'm fairly sure Enic never would, we could still comfortably afford a Savinho and Paz this window, to back an impressive Thomas Frank, especially with a few loans out and the odd transfer out?
Think of it like your debit card, there's a contactless limit of £100 or whatever it is now, but you've only got say £60 in your account, you can't go and tap your debit card to buy something for £80 just because the contactless limit is £100.

Now I don't know exactly how much money Spurs have in the accounts, but the £300m headroom means nothing if the club only has £100m in funds available.

??? If we meet Como's asking price, they will sell and Madrid can't do anything about it.

The only influence Madrid have, is being in his ear telling him he has a future at Madrid, if they decide to do that. But Madrid are stacked in that position.

Como's choice is keep Paz for this season, but then lose him back to Madrid for 10 million next summer. Or sell Paz this summer to us for say 60 million, and pocket half of the fee. Rest goes to Madrid.
Yeah I know that's what the situation is on paper but my point is that I believe that Madrid, ultimately, will get what they want.

If we're about to sign Paz this summer and Madrid don't want it, they'll offer to pay Como the difference next season. Let's say we offered 50m euros. Como would only get 25m because of the clause, 15m more than they'd get next year. Madrid will likely just offer them an extra 10m to keep him for a year.

Como get to keep a player who is currently on peanuts and they'll still get a pay off next season. But most importantly, they won't have fucked over Real Madrid, a team who will never loan or sell them another player again.

As convoluted as all the Paz clause stuff is; rest assured all the ITK fuckheads will have some/all of the details wrong.... So trying to workshop it all into reasons why we can/can't sign him is pointless.

Put in whatever bid you like, it won’t work if he sees a future at Madrid.

If you’ve spent 3 mins looking at the reason he left after getting messed around with chances and heavily criticized and then looked at the Argentine wonder kid they signed in his position but couldn’t even register in the first team squad, you’d know that you are literally just making up a situation in your mind

Levy never pushes to sign world-class talent.

Paz is available for 70 million euros and Levy is sitting on his hands.

To be fair hes not worth 70m euros just yet and at that price its a big gamble, bigger than savinho at 80m euros.

But Paz is the top tier of the next generation of no 10's

He'd likely struggle a little at first with the intensity of the pl which is to be expected. The pl is played at a ferocious pace compared to other leagues.

But like savinho he will be a future superstar so in that sense I do pat the club on the back for identifying these players as targets but its all completely useless unless we sign them.

Right now I can't see anybody decent coming in just an even longer list of 'we trieds' and another season where the wheels fall off because we have been let down by the recruitment team.

€70m means fuck all compared to €50m because he’s on €500k per year FFS!!!!!

We could pay this kid €2m per year and he’d be over the moon

So why allow Real Madrid to have such a significant say in your future with the buy back clause?!

If you don’t think a few sweet nothings in his ear from the Madrid hierarchy guaranteeing playing time would smooth it over, then you’re extremely naive.

But hey, believe what you want. It makes no difference to me!
