Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Do you think the level of operational influence is a good thing and comparable to other chairman/owners?

He's done good and bad things over his tenure.....

Is the level of his influence comparable to other clubs? .....To a greater or lesser extent, compared to a lot of teams; yes.

There’s no reason he can’t retire and they employ a CEO / Chairman to deal with most matters

Again; you're bouncing between a desire for him to minimise his input in the on pitch matters (plausible/possible) and now demanding he retire.

I understand what might be what you WANT; but you're gonna need to accept it's entirely unikely....... At Spurs or any similar scenario.

Out of curiosity; can you name me one club owner that has a ZERO input policy?

Akliouche just got glowing praise by Kevin Hatchard.

Seemed to rate him even more than Paz. Said he's a fabulous player, only issue is would he adapt to the PL in terms of the pace of it, and the physicality.

But otherwise, he said he is a joy to watch,

I wonder if he will be the number 10 we end up signing.

I’d more put the fault squarely at Lange’s door.

He’s employed to identify talent and realistic transfers, but it seems he’s having a mare this window. Levy is only wheeled out for the advanced negotiations per the overlap interview.

I can see Lange getting the bullet in September and replaced by Don Fabio as Technical Director.
so it seems. I still think we should wait until this transfer window is over to see. he could pull a couple of rabbits out of hats.

Let’s see how we do in games 3 and 4 and against the equivalent teams before we start saying we’ve improved or it’s been a good start then. At the moment the difference is two points. Man City good performance, but probably not as good as last years. Burnley was a struggle for 65minutes
Equivalent teams? Man City are a better team than us, and we still beat them!

Last year's 4-0 was a freak scoreline, but not a freak, one off result!

THFC have MCFC's number....
Have done since 1981!!

Plus we spent most of the 1990s secretly rooting for Man Utd to prevent Arse winning even MORE trophies!!

No wonder they hate us!

I don't know how it works in Germany but here in Spain, even with fan owned clubs, Presidents get voted in often for promising crazy spending

I genuinely don't see who we can sign from here that saves the window?

MGW, Eze, Savinho, Paz, Hincaipe all off. They were our main targets. Who's left? I think we just go with the squad we have and fall short again. I've lost all hope in this window now.

Prof:

I didn’t hear (or post) anything from sources about us being strongly interested in Hincapie, or having substantial talks with Leverkusen about him. Either Galahad and Guinevere didn’t have their ears to the ground on this one or Romano confused reality with something he saw in a fever dream.

Re Paz, this is a player TF very much wants, but RM have made it impossible for a deal to be done at a viable price, as is their right. RM would have to significantly change their stance, including their plans for the player’s future, for a transfer to be feasible. There is a feeling of disappointment at THFC, but no recriminations for giving it a go or at the magnitude for the offer we made.

Re Savinho, Galahad said “Improbable but not impossible. As we did with Paz, we’ve given City our best and final for Savinho. While they mull it over we’re working on two other options.”
Oh dear. Savinho looking unlikely.

This window has been a total shit show.

How the fuck are they funding this window? On pace to outspend Liverpool unless Isak goes through and so far they've made nothing this window on sales? At best they'll get £15-20m off Porto for Kiwior and the rest of their undesirables look unlikely to ship out on anything other than loans, I don't understand how they could outspend the next highest net spender by circa £100m when they've had no significant incoming from player sales in the past 3 seasons, surely this is Plettenburg putting the cart before the horse and assuming they can generate roughly £40-60m for this transfer in outgoings prior to signing off on it?
