Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Our youth recruitment has to be one of the worst in the country. You look at players who left the academy as a free, and the only one playing at higher than PL struggler is Madueke.

It's unbelievable.
We are fucking awful at managing youth players' careers, or at least have been, fully convinced Parrott moves next summer for a fee in the region of 20-30m euro, we got 4m euro for him. Tanganga is on the verge of a £10m move and we let him go on a free last summer. We did well cutting our losses on Skipp for circa £20m, his injury issues will plague him for his entire career by the looks of it, but we held on to winks for far too long when his stock was high breaking into the England side but clearly never going to be a first team regular at Spurs, a bigger more ruthless club finds a buyer for £20-30m when that value is high, same as Chavs did with Gallagher. Better career management would see us get more than a nominal fee for Edwards, keeps aforementioned Madueke in our youth setup with a clearer pathway to first team minutes.

How can we be struggling to sell Solomon when he got double figures goals AND assists in a promotion season for Leeds in what is now widely regarded as a pretty high level championship? There has to be an issue with the way we negotiate outgoings, the only other club that seems to struggle to sell as much as we do is the cunts down the road and they get way better value for money on their academy graduates by and large, I'm still gobsmacked by how much they pulled Everton's pants down for Iwobi.

Im talking about the ones we let go. Parrott is an idiot who, of he'd stayed in England, would've been out of the game in no time with his connections. I know people that know him, and since he left for the Netherlands he changed things up and cut certain people out of his life. The club should've put a bigger sell on clause in, but that's it.

I'm talking about the players we recruit from youth, simply aren't good enough. Look at the players from Chelsea and City's academies and where they're playing now. We have absolutely feck all. We don't identify talent at grass roots level or identifying younger players at other clubs.

Our whole youth set up needs torn apart and rebuilt from the ground up, because quite frankly, with the facilities we have, and being based in London, it's embarrassing. It's not the players they let go that I have issue with, it's that we don't bring through quality. Tanganga, Skipp, Winks, Parrott because of his attitude, I don't care about. It's that we don't bring quality through.

At this stage, some patience and a level head is required. There is no reason to kneejerk sign a player with urgency - we have a squad good enough to win this weekend's fixture. 1 week left in the transfer window to get it right, and then the international break.

The club have clearly tried (and failed) to move on several players - Confirmed offers for MGW and EZE + reported offers for Paz, Milot, Rodrygo, Savinho.

It is refreshing to see the club moving for quality players - however, once a player (and their agent) knows their quality, the ambition is for a bigger club than Spurs.

History teaches us, if you want a quality player and you are not a pedigree club - you have to overpay on salary and bribe the agent - something Spurs refuses to do.

So, what now? I have the feeling Spurs will keep their powder dry until deadline day.

Passing up on Grealish looks a bit silly now doesn't it?

A few snippets from my Villa mate:

- They need 3 or 4 players in
- He could absolutely see a Rogers bid (£80m) or one involving players being accepted, but it needs to come in the next couple of days
- Frustrated with how Rogers has become predictable for the opposition. Fans won't be heartbroken if the price is right
- Does not rule out Chelsea making a move (shock) and including Jackson / Nkunku / both in the deal

The Chelsea thing makes sense as could see Emery fancying both of those players

Definitely think Rogers is a good chance to be sold this window. He's a little bit overrated and I think Villa know that. They can cash in this window.

Okay,understand.

I would slightly disagree, but do think an injury to Van Dijk is an irreplaceable loss,a lot more th an let's say Saliba for Woolwich or similar to any club.

Liverpool score goals however, amd from all parts of the team, which makes them the threat they are.
Last season their biggest asset though was their ability to win by 1 goal. They're already looking leakier at the back this season and, as you say VVD is a risk. And he's getting older too.
But worried they'll not be able to hold off the scum tbh
