Generally true. Tel looks an appalling bit of business, but tbf he deserves a chance this season. Odobert has shown good promise. Need to see more of him this season. I am optimistic that in Frank we have a coach that will get a lot from our younger players.

Our recruitment has improved a bit over the past 2-3 years tbf. The low point stretched from Ndombele to Bryan Gil. There are plenty of good buys recently:

- Vicario
- VdV
- Porro
- Udogie
- Sarr
- Bergvall
- Palhinha
- Kudos
- Danso
Not trying to pick holes , but since 23, we also signed
Soloman
Dragusin
Ashley Philips
Veliz

I think as you said that there has been a slight improvement and I am hoping that Frank can make some improvements to the existing staff but it really is time to start acting like a big club and buying some real quality.

Woah wtf happened in here, sin bin galore 😲

Yep. I don't disagree there have been some poor once since 23, but tbf every club makes some poor signings. I guess you could add the Werner loan to that. I think our ratio of good2poor over the past couple of years is actually OK. It's just that not enough of the good players are elite.

Add in Romero, Maddison, Bentancur, Kulusevski -

I am not speaking for Aberdeen, but although they are OUR record signings it could be argued they were not the top signings at the time. For example buying a striker from Bournemouth that had been let go by both Chelsea and Liverpool is not a top player, but a slightly more expensive hit and hope, as was the same with the majority of players in bold.

We do not stump up the cash for the top draw players, you can never see Spurs doing what Woolwich did with Rice or Liverpool with Wirtz. Whether they would come to us , I don't know but we have to start acting like a big club , not a richer version of Brighton or Brentford.

Also you correctly point that our return on some of the players has been awful, this is down more hit and hopes not making the grade.

Not sure about this window but the buying strategy at the club has been a joke. Every club has a bad buy but ours over the last few years are ridiculous. We bought both Tel and Odebert in the last two season and are now trying to buy a player of the same age that plays in the same position as both of them.

Sorry matey just venting.
I get what you and AberdeenYid AberdeenYid are saying about us only going for "mid-tier" signings, instead of players from the supposed top echelon.

But the thing is how many of those truly top transfers work out either? Take a look at this list of the biggest transfers ever. How many of those would you rank as unqualified successes. It's littered with the likes of Antony, Coutinho, Eden Hazard, all huge transfers that for one reason or another were flops.

Levy ultimately is a business man. For good or ill, he clearly sees a bigger return in investing in youth and adding value in that way. You may disagree with it as a model, but it's clearly the way he thinks. The big money signings are the aberration not the cheaper punts on youngsters.

Spurs is a stepping stone for most of the best young players signed in the past 20 odd years.

Levy knows his place in the pecking order.

Kane and particularly Son have been loyal, that's about it out of the biggest names, Bale, Walker, Modric ...et al. quite a few have gone on to have very successful careers at other clubs.

No way does Levy sign any of those players in their prime,

Kane doesn't sign for Spurs in his prime no way, not a chance, it's just that he's been loyal after coming through the youth system.

Said it plenty of times.

In 1996 Newcastle absolutely smashed the English transfer record to bring Shearer “home”.
In the same situation with Kane today we wouldn’t do it. We just got very lucky. And still managed to win sweet FA. But we did get a nice stadium and make Danny a paper billionaire.

The ambition on the pitch however is just not the same as at other clubs.

Look at the difference between Jack Walkers Blackburn and ENICsTottenham. He blew his fortune on his love of Blackburn.

Chalk and cheese!

This is the same Blackburn that finished mid-table in the championship last season, yes?

What’s your point??

Are you just stupid? Do you think there are more than 1 Blackburn Rovers?? I fucking doubt you do.

Spit it out. No fannying about here Walter.
The point was that despite fleeting success, Blackburn are currently in the championship, and have been for the majority of the time since they won their one (1) Premier League title (see also: Leicester City).

I'd love nothing more than seeing Spurs win the Premier League or the European Cup, but I also want that success to be sustainable, not just a brief flash in the pan.

I'll take the flash in the pan.
