How do you sabotage training? Move the cones? Change the settings on the treadmills? Grease up the balls?

Reading various accounts of the transfer window (like this one Newcastle sell Alexander Isak: Inside club's transfer window), Newcastle fans seem to think they are an entirely hard done by, special case. They don't even for one second consider that Wissa did pretty much entirely the same to Brentford as Isak did to them.

Yes, without looking at all the finer detail,it's hard to disagree.

Newcastle got a huge fee for Isak but at what cost is the question.

3 years remaining on a contract and yet the club felt boxed in, not even being able to teach the bloke a lesson. That's crazy territory.

There were some extenuating circumstances why Newcastle were forced to capitulate but it's shocking what Isak has done. I really hope it all goes wrong for him but your point on Wissa and a certain hypocrisy on the part of Newcastke is entirely valid, whilst being consequential.

A lot of clubs/top players/agents, will have cast an interested eye on what occurred.

Newcastle have had a laughable window - £220m on Wissa, Elanga, Ramsey and Woltemade - I’d be in tears if that was us, utterly shocking how much average players go for these days.

That's sort of the stage they are at though, it takes years to get a club from where they were to really pushing for big trophies, and it's not a straight line progression......you have ups and downs along the way.

That's Newcastle for you - ever since the PIF bought them, they've been buying pretty much the same players they were under Ashley IMO - just for wildly different fees.

Pope, Ramsdale, Trippier, Elanga, Burn, Livramento, Barnes, Willock, Gordon, Wissa - you can imagine Steve Bruce picking a side with those lot. Not just that, but imagine telling their fans what their squad would be today, 4 years ago. They'd be expecting something wildly different

I think you are being a bit harsh. 4 players who you can't say for sure will do any worse or better than our 4.
Elanga - 6 goals 12 assists last season... decent contributor and probably on a par with Kudus
Wissa - 20 goals and 4 assists in 36 games last season, 12 goals the season before... not to be sniffed at. We haven't had a 20 goal a season man since Kane left. Don't know how you can knock this.
Ramsey is a bit of a reach on the left side. Can't see him playing much if they have a full squad.
Don't know much about Woltemade but banged in 17 goals for Stuttgart last season.
Time will tell but I don't think you can safely say our window is better just yet. On paper, it looks better because of the headline names but football isn't played on paper... one thing I am sure of is that our window needs to be better or we will probably finish behind them again.

They signed Bruno Guimaraes sat in 19th.

It's not a question of incremental steps forward. They have gone backward the past 3 years.

Just not a lot of technical class in that group, and having lost Isak it's a clear net downgrade in technical ability.
