We was lucky, whether you like it or not.

Yes we put in a couple good performances over Eintracht and Bodo, but the rest of the season was an embarrassment. And we also put in some truly awful performances in the earlier rounds.

If we had taken ManU route to the finals, I don't think we would have got there.
Give over, United didn’t play anyone with the pedigree of Frankfurt.

We played United, Rangers, Roma and Frankfurt - 2 of those had won the Europa since 2018 and and the other 2 have been finalists in the last 4 years. 6 of the sides we faced were in CL qualifying this season with 4 qualifying for the final tournament.

Compare that to some of our FA cup runs in the past

Football is about entertaining the people. Some are black and white and see trophies as the only thing but others want to see beautiful football and a team that can compete with the best in the world. And take part in something weekly that is generally enjoyable for 90+ minutes.

I’ll take the latter any day.
I agree with what you’re saying to a certain extent.

I’d love to watch Ardiles style football for entertainment value and see 6 goals a game but would we want to lose half our matches or worse. Or go full results style like Graham🤮or Mourinho at his peak and become a winning force getting the job done at any cost.

I’m delighted we’ve got Frank in as I think he’s pragmatic and wants to play good football but treats each game with respect in order to get the best result. He will allow us to at least compete with the best in the world even if we are still quite short in places.

Would you be happy with 10 seasons of top 4 and no trophies playing good stuff going forward? Last season was horrific to watch but the feeling of winning that trophy was my best moment as a fan and only our 3rd trophy I can remember us lifting.

The Lewis family, who own the club, have put a new leadership team in place with Peter Charrington, who was brought on to the board in March, stepping into a newly created role of nonexecutive chair.

Vinai Venkatesham, who was named as the chief executive in April, will grow further in influence and one of their principal goals will be to attract fresh investment. It is understood that it is essential for Spurs to drive their varied plans to expand the business, which would help in the ultimate ambition of bringing on-field success.
The backdrop to the seismic change at Spurs is the search for new investment. The game has been ablaze with takeover rumours involving the club, with agents and financiers claiming at various points this year that there is a buyer waiting in the wings. It is known that Amanda Staveley, the former Newcastle director who brokered the Saudi takeover at St James’ Park four years ago, has become a figure of influence at Spurs. Could the club find it easier to attract the additional money they need without Levy cutting a divisive presence at the top?

Daniel Levy has been removed as Tottenham Hotspur chairman, bringing an end to his 24-year tenure at the club.

A club statement said Levy had “stepped down” but the decision was taken by the club’s majority shareholders, the Lewis family, marking a seismic change in how Tottenham is run.

Levy was told on Thursday that he would be leaving his position, with Peter Charrington, the Lewis family’s appointee, stepping into the new role of non-executive chairman.

He got properly sacked. Wow.

Will be remembered for steadying the club, keeping us in Tottenham, building a world class training facility and jewel of a stadium whilst fumbling many moments to take that all important final step. All those near misses in the transfer market and poor cheaper route options inevitably proved to be hugely poor choices.

£1.2bn spent on a stadium, 2 windows without a new signing says a lot to me about it all really.

His bartering instead of occasionally paying over the odds to kick the club on ultimately has set us back 5 years. He spent big yes but only on players with a high resale value. That was his strength and weakness all rolled into one.

For me losing Harry Kane because we were unable to take the right steps and moves forward was the moment it was obvious we were moving backwards. A change was required and a change is what we have now. The summer window only reaffirmed that football and how he operates aren't currently aligned.

I wish him all the best, thank him for stabilising the club, giving us amazing foundations to grow upon but we are a football club, not an airport, shopping center, not a swanky restaurant and I just think the infrastructure of the club consumed him too much.

All the best Daniel, through the fumbles and unnecessary screw ups you did overall do a pretty good job. More hits than misses in a volatile game but we should be miles ahead of where we are now considering our wealth, stature, heritage and foundations laid. The failed Grealish deal was Levy in a nutshell and he didn't ever seem to learn from his transfer mishaps, which was and remains my biggest gripe with him and his time at the club.

Its time for someone who can use what has been laid and develop us properly on the pitch now.

All the best 👍

Really conflicted on him. Did a good job growing us into a seriously big club with solid financial and physical infrastructure. But really under achieved in a football sense and I feels it’s that side of the business which has really outgrown him!

The Europa win will give a lot of credit in the bank as it’s the biggest trophy we’ve won since the last time we won it.

Losing a final is a better accomplishment than actually winning a final??

You have to be trolling!!

It’s infinitely more difficult you moron. Imagine thinking beating a 100+ point city team and an incredible Ajax side who had schooled Madrid and Juve after dicking Dortmund and battling through a group including Inter & Barca is an easier accomplishment than beating fucking Bodo Glimt, Frankfurt, Alkmaar and the shittest United team anyone has ever seen.

He’s right. You can’t think critically; it’s just emotion. When you break this bullshit down it’s insanely dumb. The EL is literally objectively a worse competition by far, it’s not even something you can argue.

Reaching the CL final (the actual pinnacle of the club game) is miles ahead.

I

good post. He messed up with Poch, and has been floundering on transfers since. Good summer this year, but not before time.

I remain very optimistic re the Frank era
I do too.

He is a good manager, add already we are seeing signs that squad will get better. Okay, Bournemouth was a bit of cluster, but it was only the 3rd game into a new season. And as long as he learned from it, then it's fine.

There really is a lot be positive about, we got two elite players in Simons and Muani in the same window... Still gob smacks me.

and seeing as we finished 17th last season, the only way is up :D

Totally agree with everything you've just said, well put. Bar one teeny thing, his high sell on players. We overspend on dross that they think will have high sell on fees, but in reality, 90% of them, we can't shift for love nor money.
Had he been on charge I'm sure we'd have bought Lookman or some other panic punt for too much money,, and needed him replaced next season again.

Last season was a pile of shit with a cherry on top.
I loved under it Poch, We spanking the the mugs in blue at home and away and putting an end to the 3 point lane BS, and shut Chelsea up, we also did the same to Woolwich...

Beating Madrid, Ajax, ManC in the CL, that Ajax come back was one of the great nights in Spurs history...

It was nice going to places, and have no fear, coz we was gonna give more than what we got, and if we lost, it was just one of those game football throws up.

It is so disingenuous to ignore what Poch did and all this magical nights.

Ange gave us a great in winning the EUFA no doubt, but that was the least he could of done after making me want to repeatedly punch myself in the face, out of frustration and it been less painful than watching us.

To knock Poch for he did for this club, just comes across as bitter, especially in thread regarding the man, who has done more to hold us back than anyone else...

Levy done great on the stadium, the training grounds, the charity work, and the surrounding community... But the rest... Nah, he just wasn't good enough and embarrassed the club far to often.

Levy could have been sacked for spending too much in the transfer window.

Lewis might want someone in to tighten the belt and cut back on spending.

We might find out that Levy wasn't the bad guy after all and there are much worse chairman to him out there.

I guess we will find out.
