He's gone mate.
Gone. Sacked. Booted out the fucking door....

You really don't need to defend him anymore.

Some keep claiming we are the 9th richest club in football, not exactly accurate , we have the 9th highest revenue in football so it's not quite the same is it, we are finacially sound but I am not quite sure who is the richest , the club with the most cash in the bank I would have thought with no debts.
Yeah, good question.

There are two main football 'rich lists' that get publicity. The first is Deloitte's, which uses revenues/turnover as its measure. There's a lot to say for this because it represents spending power and thus the ability to pay player wages. This measure correlate most with success. In principle, you might want to adjust for the cost of a debt, which would subtract from spending power, but in practice this is quite small (as emerged in this thread's recent discussion).

Personally, I think this is a useful measure. We can, for example, tell if a club punches above or below its weight – 'punch' in terms of league position (measured as an average over a few seasons), 'weight' in terms of spending power.

One interesting aspect of turnover is commercial revenue, the most important component of which is, arguably, the sponsorship contracts. These reflect the so-called 'brand value' of a club, and there'll be rankings that use measures of this. This rather intangible thing appears to correlate with the standard rich lists.

The other main publicised rich list is calculated by Forbes. I'm not sure, I may be wrong, but I think this is an attempt to value a club – or, at least, contribute to valuing a club – if you want to buy or sell it.

As it turns out, we're 9th in the Deloitte list with a turnover of €615m (5th in PL), and 9th in the Forbes list with a valuation of $3.3bn (5th in the PL).

So, in other words, we have punched above our weight for years?

Interesting.

I can’t make my mind up. Can’t decide if I’m happy we’ve moved on or not. Sometimes it’s better the devil you know. However I met my brother in law today who is a gooner and all I can say is he is gutted!

I think the full spectrum from Levy In to Levy Out would agree: we got the best Daniel Levy had to offer in his 24 years at the helm. There was not going to be some significant change to come in the way he operated, the man is who he is.

Change at the top could bring change for the worse, it carries risk. But it could also bring change for the better, the kind of change in philosophy we've all been pining for.

To Dare Is To Do

Got to love BMJ. Some great quotes in there. Interesting to see what he says about Levy’s son.
The stuff where he was speaking from experience and memories was good, the stuff about our squad today was nonsense. Kudus isn’t better than Kulu? And Kulu wouldn’t play for Utd? Genuine talksport level shit. Someone take Grandpa Jol back to bed.
