Yeah, I can understand managing minutes with maybe a 16 or 17 year old, but the fact is, if you aren't showing it early, your chances of being great aren't increasing by being mollycoddled. Messi, Rooney et al were all regulars by 18-19.

Johnson is for games where we will defend in a low block and counter. Or to come on as a sub when we have the lead and there is space to attack as the opponent commits to attack themselves. HE is not suited to role your sleeves up derby games, or games where the opponent will sit deep.

I’m not sure they still sit that deep. I wouldn’t start him either but I think he will, and I never ever want to see him on the left. Kudus can play either side, both footed and well balanced
