Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

spence has dropped off since the hype a few weeks ago, its like now hes got in the first 11 hes got too comfortable.

yea it was tough for xavi today, he looks like a decent player, good touch etc. should have been sent off though which is a slight worry, on a yellow and giving the ref the chance to send him off.
Nonsense. Spence has not dropped off all players have better and worse games. This fan base is crazed. He's a remarkable player for one playing on his wrong side, but yesterday you saw exactly why this can help defensively and hinder offensively.

If you play Xavi lw who cuts in you can't have Spence behind him its better fit for Udogie. If Villarreal had a better right winger then you need Spence on jailer duty. Its why having an actually a coach that understands tactically ( certainly our fans base dont get it ) will be a big help. Its great we have Udogie and Spence and they need to be made to understand they are joint in possession of the shirt. Its Porro we need to help with an adequate right back support.

spences performance levels have dropped off, im not the only one to notice this. its almost like hes too comfortable now, doesnt suit his game, he needs to be on the edge a bit imo, not relaxed.

hes another one thats hanging onto it too long when theres good easy passes available to come back inside.

Well, the old left winger just scored a hat trick in MLS and has 5 goals in 6 games. Not saying he would of done that for Spurs but I do think Son wasn't as washed up as some thought he was.

Yeah he was. We could all see it.
The intensity of the premier league is off the scale compared to where he’s gone.

We had a lad at Step 5 (That’s well below football league levels) go to play professional football in the US.

You cannot compare the US to the premier league in any way shape or form.

The intensity of the over 40s Walking Football League at your local Leisure Centre is off the scale compared to the latest MLS highlights I've seen...

His yellow card was soft....but then the referee let him commit a series of far more serious fouls with no punishment.

The Villarreal manager was going nuts that Simons wasn't sent off......so the referee booked him instead.

Gotta love the modern game.
I thought the ref was all over the place tbh..
the only thing he did consistently well was to be just as poor 💩 to both sides.

MLS is very high athletic quality but very low game IQ quality
And low technical quality.

The Premier League has all three, and the combined effect is to massively compress time and space on the ball, you have to have excellent technique and speed of thought and processing to be able to stitch an attacking move together in the PL. Sonny was never elite in that twitchy one-two touch side of the game but he was good enough to unlock his terrifying running and finishing until age caught up to him.

MLS you've got athletic players who can run at you (plus the weather, plus the shitty refereeing, plus the travel, it's a grueling physical grind), but the low technical ability, especially of defenders, means a steady stream of opportunities to have time and space to run at teams just from dumbass miscues and things, and Sonny will be able to stay deadly from those until he's 50.
