A football club competes to be the best. That doesn't come down to any one honor, but to how we rank ourselves against others who'd be in consideration at the top of the world, all things considered. When were we closest to the top of the world?

And which club is better? The one that was runner up in the CL? The one that finished 2nd in the best league in the world? Or the one that finished 17th and won an honor in a second tier competition that's expressly created for those who aren't good enough to be invited to the first?

I don't know which of the three clubs was best and was closest to reaching the summit, but I know the third is miles behind the first two. Getting very near to the summit of Everest is more prestigious than getting there on Kilimanjaro.

I know many won't agree but if the goal is to be the best, there are no questions on this.
Yet another Poch knob sucker, who is belittling our first European trophy in over 40 years.

Off to my ignore list you fuck. 👋

Youre definetely right. For the most. But in my opinion its also a unromantic and to some degree quite damaging view of sports in general.

Our europa league win last season was amazing. One of the best nights ive had as a fan. If we only can be satisfied with the very top, then watching sports doesnt make any sense, if you dont support the "best" teams.

Forest being out is good for us, both because they are another PL side, and because they would have been absolutely driven like lunatics if they played us.

On Forest losing, how much you can blame Postecoglou I don’t really know, but I just like the fact that some of the mystical drivel that followed our Europa victory is being put to bed.

If Burnley beat Forest on the weekend, which Parker will see as a good opportunity, then it's already a difficult job getting even harder.

It was a great night but I think for a lot of people debating this online it was important to win a trophy just to stop banter from without. I don't care a bit what fans of other clubs say about us. I care about us growing toward winning the league or winning major honors on the level of it.

You want to win any competition that you're in, and we found ourselves in Europa so mission accomplished, but where does it rate, and where did we rate after it? It's been years since we were even headed in the correct direction. If we're palace and a cup is the best we can hope for it would be different, but we are not.

If that's the kind of activity you like crack on... 😂

There were a few. I was very, very tentatively one of them. And it was louder elsewhere, especially Spurs Reddit.

It had a weird parasocial element to it, I don't blame people for being weirded out.

But what I do insist upon is that the campaign against Ange is WAY more irrational, WAY more personal and non-football based, and relied WAY more on obviously incorrect arguments than any of the Daddy Ange shit ever did, and the way it is still carrying on even with him gone only proves that further.
this is the last i'll say on ange but the above sentiment is why people are so upset about the whole thing as you continue to gaslight us just like ange did. he was a thin skinned asshole who acted like nothing was his fault until the dying end and as we're seeing at forest he hasn't changed his tune at all. he was a disaster hire on every level and it was fairly obvious early on but the cult and ange himself kept acting like he was the second coming of sir alex and attacked anyone who dared point out the obvious shortcomings of his tenure from his tactics to his peevishness with the fans and media. had he shown the least bit of humility and flexibility things would've never turned as toxic and personal as they did and to act like that wasn't the context and we're just angry weirdos is utter bullshit and fuck you for continuing to say it. ffs you should hang your head in shame for buying his crap for as long as you did.

They've conceded goals from corners in both games so far. Is anyone surprised by this?

His arrogance to downplay the importance of defending set pieces was quite something and he obviously hasn't changed that opinion.

As soon as he was hired I took Sels out of my fantasy team. Literally within seconds of news breaking that they hired him.

That being said he won us the Europa League and for that I will be forever grateful.
Well said. He does deserve some credit. And is a shit coach.
