Already a few Frank-outers. Crazy how fickle fans are on this board.

Well, the ones who are vocally frank out now are the same losers who were pissing thier pants over his appointment from the start.

Surely the only Frank-out people are still in the cult of Angeloss.

Guaranteed we would have lost that game last year.

Anybody who wants him out or doesn’t think he’s an improvement on Ange is fucking nuts.

We did. And the season before.

Unfortunately I make my money on cold hard numbers. 13 points is better than 9 in my accounting book.

Ange in his first season had 13 points after 5 games. Thomas has 10!!

Statistically Mr Postecoglou’s record of 13 points in his first 5 league games has not been bettered by Mr Frank.

Vis a vis Mr Frank is not an improvement.

Ange took over from, effectively, Conte. Conte who finished 4th in his first season and was 3rd when sacked.
Ange made us worse with 5th.
And then much worse the following season.

Glass half full people focus on the ones we won.

Beat City, Beat Liverpool.
Beat Bodo Baggins.

Magnificent!!!
In the league, the number of games you win normally matters more than winning some games against names.
It's why West Ham have been a yoyo club. They rest their whole team for 36 matches so they can show up against us twice a season.
Forgot the M/O this season :roflmao:

I'm still on the fence, and no I wasn't an Ange homer, I just don't really enjoy this brand of football, and after the Mou and Conte days, it's given me PTSD. Great to see that we're getting harder to beat. But our attacking play is pretty terrible, we've also lost control of 3 of our last 4 games, all at home.

I like the signs so far, I don't love them. Hoping the attack starts to click, because it's worrying. Our last 3 goals scored have all been extremely fortunate to put it mildly. Looked better when Xavi came on in the middle. Excited to see what that looks like going forward.

Great to see that we're getting harder to beat. But our attacking play is pretty terrible,
Defensive: I get that, but lets be realistic here.

Last season we lost a record (?) 22 matches, conceded a record (?) 65 goals and finished in a terrible 17th spot, easily the worst in the PL, and the worst for nearly 50 yrs.

With that background, any new manager is going to HAVE to improve. And the easiest way to do that is organise the defence and revamp those chaotic systems of last season.

I wouldnt claim the defensive side is job done, but it's 6 games in and it's a lot more than a start. Goals conceded have fallen massivley.

Now the attacking side.

Played 5 scored 10. That is pretty damn decent, not pretty terrible.

Bear in mind that a new team and manager scoring goals is a whole different challenge. So much harder than getting a back 4 to hold a line for instance. Also that Dom our best strieker has yet to play a part. That all takes time, certainly more than 5 PL matches.

Points wise we're 3 pts ahead of game for game last season, but from 7 to 10, only 5 matches, and that's quite a jump. And very unlucky not to get another 2 pts at Brighton. Just been on North Stand Chat and several there saying they were relieved to get the point.

I'm not going overboard about TF. He's done a good job. It's professional, pragmatic, solid. Some here saying its been outsrtanding. Its not. I gather we were crap v B'mouth and very average v Villareal. But its very encouraging.

You're essentially saying what I said. We've improved defensively. I get that, very happy to see it.

But disagree offensively. There's no fluidity, we don't look threatening in most games and we're not creating clear cut chances. As I said, our last 3 goals, two bad own goals and luckily bad shot landing at our player's feet. We seem to have one plan, get it to Kudus, who is fairly frustrating at times and his end product needs a lot of work. Dom isn't going to fix things like some people here seem to believe. He's bang average as well.

I agree he's doing a good job, not great, but we need to start being able to dominate teams offensively. 6 of those 10 goals came against teams that look like 2 of 3 worst in the league right now. Until there's more fluidity in the attacking play, I refuse to get too excited. Hopefully RKM is a decent signing, looked half decent at Juve last season. I do sympathise with Frank re our LW problem though. None of those players are good enough, not close. Hopefully that's addressed early in January.

He's fixing the attack, Xavi will play as a 10, Solanke will come back (as much as you don't rate him he's better than Richy) Kolo Muani still yet to play...question marks over the left bit I think we will be alright between Odo, Tel and Johnson until the end of the season.

I'm good with this coach, he seems to know he's doing and seems to know how to get the best out of the team and the players, the Brighton match was encouraging.

If you look at typical Frank teams they love to attack, weren't Brentford like 5th highest scorers last season or something? I think the problem for him here is our left hand side is absolutely wank, Kudus is quality on the right but we have no one of equal talent on the left , then add in the fact that Richie is very inconsistent and Solanke is yet to really feature.

I think we are all to quick to forget how poor we were in the league last season, and we are only 5 games in so far, its very early days but he has gone with the right approach which is first make us hard to beat, I'd hope as the season goes on and he gets to spend more time with our attacking players and hopefully strengthen the left hand side in January then we will see a team that is scoring goals for fun.

We also have yet to see what he can do with Kulu and Munai , Xavi in the last game showed us glimpses of what he can do , I just hope the talk of money to spend is true and we can upgrade the left of our attack in January and top 4 is a proper target for this club, and then go for the league next season!

It’s a strange quirk on here that if you have the temerity to question our attacking play this season, you get told that we’ve scored 10 in 5, as if that’s all that matters.

But when you compliment a player like Johnson for scoring, it’s suddenly not just about the goals.

FWIW, I just want us to score a lot and concede a lot less. Don’t really care how they go in. Goals at the weekend were the shittiest two goals you’ll ever see, but got us a point. However, relying on shitty goals isn’t sustainable, so the attacking players do need to screw the nut a bit more. It would also be nice sometimes to see a goal going in and think “nice goal”, rather than “lucky bastard”.

Generally agree, but i dont know why you call our two goals from last weekend "shitty".

First one was result of couple quick passes after ball interception - only "lucky thing" was bounce from Richy - but there is a chance Kudus would score if Richy didnt touch it.

Second one ok - its own goal, but also result of very high pressure from us, good cross and the fact that Van hecke was crowded from both sides with our attackers. You shoot from good position or you send good cross with bodies in the box - there is always chance for redirection/deflection (also Kudus almost scored third because of it)

Our goal against Villareal was shitty indeed, but not against Brighton.

Go watch our 4-1 loss to Brighton again at the end of last season and tell me if we have or have not improved offensively?

If youre expecting us to be able to dominate teams offensively at this stage of the season then you aren't being realistic, and also, don't really watch much prem because there are almost no teams that do that anymore unless they are playing the worst teams in the league.
