Player Antonín Kinský

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Vicario's was a freak injury last year, chances of him going down with another one this season are extremely slim.

Either way, you don't let a 22 year old collect dust on the bench in anticipation of such a worst case scenario.

It's clear Frank and the coaching team have already made some early assessments on players, hence the potential development loans for Devine, Scarlett and Mikey Moore, whilst Donley and Abbott are part of the pre-season travelling party.

Our new GK coach, Fabian Otte, has had enough sessions to begin to evaluate all our first team squad keepers.

Kinsky is probably as good as any GK in the PL with his feet, and completely transforms our ability to play out from the back.

The question marks are around Kinsky's shop stopping and handling. All keepers make mistakes. But our GK coach will surely now have a sense of whether there are technical issues or whether it was primarily nervousness at playing behind a makeshift defence last season.

It may be that Frank & the coaches have decided Kinsky isn't ready to our first choice GK, and the player himself is pushing for regular game time. In those circumstances, a loan to a top league where he will hopefully play every week should be great for his development.

But I think we all agree it leaves us short. Vicario's ankle fracture was a freak injury, but it shows why we desperately need a good No 2. And we're still going to have a numbers problem for the CL squad, since I don't think there are any proven GKs out there who are Spurs club-trained.

Apart from the unsigned, and unproven, club-trained Alfie Whiteman, and bringing him back would be a desperate move....

Looked very good tonight! The level of opposition is very poor but he did he needed to do and pulled of a worldy of a save.

Newcastle away will be a mega test! Prob the most physical team in the league in a very hostile stadium

nice to have a keeper that can actually kick a ball properly. good save to tip that volley onto the post. hasnt had much asked of him in terms of shot stopping. i like kinsky, could be very good competition for vic. shame we didnt get an easier tie, he might lose out to vic against newcastle.

I love him. Always looked so confident and assured whether or not he makes mistakes. I think that's important to give opposition forwards some pressure. I really look forward to him playing more games for us and eventually be our no. 1.

We have Everton away, Newcastle away and then Chelsea at home in the space of 6 days. Kinsky will probably get the nod for Newcastle.

Watched him closely last night, has a very assured aura about him and is rarely flustered when he's on the ball - I think he eventually takes over VIC as the no1 keeper here maybe in a couple of years.

i hope he does get the start in that, not sure he will tho.
I’d be very very disappointed if he doesn’t! It’s not like Vic has been unreal for the last year! Loads of mistakes in our losses and almost cost us the Europa with a horrific error.

If Kinsky is ever to be given a serious chance at Number 1 then he needs to play against the best sides with the best defence in front of him. Can’t think of a much harder test then Newcastle midweek under the lights in a hostile stadium and against a team defending their trophy

agree completely, like you say, starting kinsky in some more serious games lets vicario know he is not safe.
