We're only solid defensively because we don't play hung-ho lunatic ball. I'd wager any coach, maybe bar Potter, would have got them tighter at the back, as that was part of Ange's philosophy. We still look susceptible at the back, but absolutely shite going forward.
I wasn't thrilled about Frank, but I understood why they brought him in and had been won around with how he talked. But so far, all talk, no substance. This is terror ball.
Demonstrably true so far.
Our attacking play has been poor - it was last year despite Ange supposed preference for attacking football.
There is plenty of mitigation.
Maddison and Kulu two of our most creative players are injured. We have added Kudus who looks good.
Simons has so far been wasted on the left.
Frank has to be careful he does harm his confidence and waste his potential.
It's early days - and still grounds for optimism - but let's not pretend two appalling home displays in a row - are anything other than whatvthey are. And despite the injuries - they were partly caused by Frank being very conservative in his line-ups.
Ultimately we need to find better attacking players ( easier said than done).
Tel was a baffling signing - at most we should have extended his loan.
Odobert has so far done nothing.
Johnson is a very difficult watch
Richi - should be a late sub as plan b
Solanke is injured - and was not more than Ok last year.
Until either some of the above massively improve - or we sell them. Things are not going to change very much.
The only good thing is we did not add to our mediocrity by buying MGW for £60m
