What better attacking options? We've lost 90 g/a so far from last season with no Son, Maddison, Solanke or Kulusevski. Kolo Muani hasnt been fit either. So its Kudus, Simmons and Richarlison trying to cover that lot. I think the player with the most goals for us that we have available in the entire squad currently is Johnson with 25. Richarlison has 23 over 3 seasons. With everyone fit we have better attacking options but currently not even close to last season, which was also shit.

Fair point re missing players, but my point stands re people saying Frank has made us more “solid” or “Frank has traded off attacking structure for defensive solidity”.

We are in a run of pretty easy games right now, in about a month we have a schedule that is going to really test the manager and the players. Chelsea, Woolwich and Newcastle fairly close to each other with a couple of Champions League games in midweek.

Funnily enough i think those sort of games will suit us more than having to make the running in games we're expected to stroll.

Honestly you need to stop hallucinating that every critique on Frank is a praise to Ange and a desire to revive him back here. Almost everyone is calling spade a spade and pointing out facts where Frank was falling short in certain areas and yet about every two posts of yours you couldn't stop 'fat cunt' here and 'fatso' there.

Seriously you need to let it go. There is no fucking agenda, only you yourself getting consumed by some weird shit vendetta.
Not every "critique" (lolz), which is why I used the word "some".

Where the pointed, spiteful venom stands out.

And not critiques as much as tirades.

And as some have agreed with me, I'm not the only one noticing, unless we're having a miraculous group "hallucination".

The trade off is in priority training focus and team selection.

Pretty clear Frank has put the most training focus on defending the different phases and defensive blocks. IMO we aren’t as easy to play through front to back and have a more solid mid block. Weirdly we had a solid low block last year already.

In a few months, it’s obvious to me why he’d give this the first priority. Now he can switch the priority to attacking patterns in settled play and any kind of structure at all for our counter attacks (they are one of our worst phase of play atm).

Team selection, playing 3 CMs is clearly about wanting to be solid above creativity.

It's far too early in his tenure to make a definitive judgment on Frank. Those who say he has concentrated on the defensive side of the game are probably correct. We do look much more cohesive and structured and we are clearly harder to beat.

If, as believed, he has not yet turned to fixing our creativity and attack, and has been hamstrung (excuse the pun) by injuries, then the future is brighter.

However, I have a niggling concern that he is ultra conservative and that what we're seeing is his modus operandi. I want us to be the force a club of our stature and tradition should be, not a mid table, defensively solid, mundane outfit. That is what I feared when Frank was being touted as a potential manager. Please, please, prove that my concerns were misplaced, Thomas.

Teams will work out that nullifying kudus will completely limit our attack.

We're going to have to work on our attacking play.

Hopefully Frank will learn from this. It's great being solid but not at the expense of being threatening enough at the other end.

I love that Frank, and experienced Premier League manager supposedly takes time to read through thr various fora to understand how to get the most out of our resources

I mean after nearly 2 seasons at the club , and with players he sanctioned the purchase of, you would have thought he knew what makes them tick.

The good thing about Sours fans, because we are balanced is that we would not be making searing g judgements, like numpties if Frank was only nearing his second month in charge.

Only morons, which Spurs fans are most definitely not, would be bemoaning a more than decent start, points-wise, as lessons are learned.

We're only solid defensively because we don't play hung-ho lunatic ball. I'd wager any coach, maybe bar Potter, would have got them tighter at the back, as that was part of Ange's philosophy. We still look susceptible at the back, but absolutely shite going forward.

I wasn't thrilled about Frank, but I understood why they brought him in and had been won around with how he talked. But so far, all talk, no substance. This is terror ball.

Demonstrably true so far.
Our attacking play has been poor - it was last year despite Ange supposed preference for attacking football.
There is plenty of mitigation.
Maddison and Kulu two of our most creative players are injured. We have added Kudus who looks good.
Simons has so far been wasted on the left.
Frank has to be careful he does harm his confidence and waste his potential.

It's early days - and still grounds for optimism - but let's not pretend two appalling home displays in a row - are anything other than whatvthey are. And despite the injuries - they were partly caused by Frank being very conservative in his line-ups.

Ultimately we need to find better attacking players ( easier said than done).
Tel was a baffling signing - at most we should have extended his loan.
Odobert has so far done nothing.
Johnson is a very difficult watch
Richi - should be a late sub as plan b
Solanke is injured - and was not more than Ok last year.

Until either some of the above massively improve - or we sell them. Things are not going to change very much.
The only good thing is we did not add to our mediocrity by buying MGW for £60m

Frank obviously needs time and has made a very solid start. But he needs to learn some lessons quickly. Very disappointed to see his team selection yesterday. At home against Wolves, under the lights on a Saturday night, and he picks a defensive team with a midfield handbrake, and plays a low block with no aggression in any pressing actions.

In PL home games our midfield has to be (at the very least):

Palhinha OR Bentancur
Sarr OR Bergvall OR Gray
Simons OR .... ? (Kulusevski / Maddison) - I would rather see Kudus as #10 if Simons is injured or out of form.

Richarlison is a work horse CF who can score instinctive goals. But he is not technically adept enough to lead the line, especially at home. TBF, with Muani and Solanke injured he has not other realistic options at the moment, but would at least like to see Scarlett get some mins form the bench when Richy is anonymous (as he was 2nd half last night).

By now Ange had us top of the league and Robbie Williams was our new favourite singer.

Those were the days. I get that’s it’s hard for people to understand that being as high performing as Ange was straightaway is just not easy.
It’s that winners DNA he has.

So until Frank had his own song for our fans to sing life just won’t be as good.
And he’s not a born winner. We need to accept that. Give him time to fill the sizeable shoes of his predecessor.

And we aren’t morons.

We just like to sing songs slightly out of tune. And clap our hands.
That’s high IQ behaviour.

Fans have to get over this

Frankball is efficient and no thrills. Nothing will change, we may score more goals in future games but the basis of the style of play will not change

Functional football with the sole intention of picking up points first and potential entertainment an occasional bonus

We need better attacking players who are more clinical in creating and taking the few chances we create otherwise Frankball will not deliver the success the fans demand

So it begins, we already have people claiming Frank is too conservative/negative/his philosophy is based around set pieces etc etc blah fucking blah...

I will tell you the number one problem at this club for free, this fucking fan base is the problem.

The man has had less than ten games.

Reading these comments and the comments in the match thread I had to double check the league table to see if I was hallucinating and we were really in 14th or something.

Truly mind boggling
