Plenty of small, technical players have done great in this league.

Even Bergvall, the unit he is, looked all at sea in his first few months here. Now he's considered one of our best players.

Xavi has the quality and that's the most important thing but it will take time.

The difference is BJ also looks shit when he plays on the right (see last night for most recent example)

They said the same thing about Modric.

It's what we do these days, anyone joins us, needs to be peak Ronaldo, or they are shit, not good enough, or some other BS reason, why a player won't make it.

Then give them an endless stream of abuse online...

One of the reason why we are not allowed shiney things.

Problem is, Johnson has been playing repeatedly poorly on the right too. And been here for two years.

Well when you buy young players for potential then that's part and parcel really.

Also id like to add that Van De Ven very much hit the ground running and was excellent from day one, so it's not like it never happens.
 
For a lot on here if a player is not excellent every game then they are instantly shit and a waste of money

Xavi will be brilliant player for us. He needs a striker that can take the ball in or make runs between centre backs and full backs. Since he’s been here he had to deal with a plank of wood at centre forward who offers nothing most of the time. Good players need good players around them.
 
He had a pretty poor game in Saturday (and so did most of the team to be fair).

However, what annoyed me most was his corners. They were absolute shite with no pace on them whatsoever, and just so easy to defend.

He actually was one of the only players looking to make something happen Saturday. Probably why he kept losing the ball. All the players were guilty of holding onto the ball for too long too.

Plus because we have fucked up the recruitment of the wingers so much and have quite a solid group of midfielders I can see why he puts him on the left floating in. Especially if Udogie is giving the width. But again on Saturday he was another one guilty of making the wrong pass or decision or not crossing at the correct time.

I 100% bought into the Xavi hype, but to be honest, he hasn't quite lived up to my expectations yet. It may be just a matter of time. He might be amazing, but for now I've moved into the 'jury's still out' camp. Maddison, if he was fit, would be my preferred choice over Xavi.

We aint playing him right - but we need LW cover.

Also he aint acclimating well to the physicality of the prem, you an tell cos he keeps calling for fouls that aint fouls & his face last game when he got bullied off the ball. It was like when you take away a kids control pad while they play FIFA instead of them going to bed...

He's not a left winger, not fair judging him after a few games in a new league mostly out of position

Not aimed at you mate but there's literally no patience anymore
