Maybe it's just me but I want a keeper who makes saves first and foremost. I have no problem with our keepers either rolling it out to a FB or kicking it long. I have palpitations when they start passing it backwards and forwards in front of our goal. I understand that's the modetn game and why we do it, doesn’t mean I have to like it!
I think the keeper being unable to pick it up from a back pass is why we’ve seen a big drop off in the ball being rolled out.

The only real opportunity to roll it out is when the keeper takes the ball cleanly rather than parrying it out.

The distribution is less of an issue if he opts for the simple option, but you surely can’t be happy with his lack of composure on balls into the box or his lack of ability to come and confidently collect a cross to relieve pressure on the team?

Call me a fucking idiot if you like, but I’d prefer a keeper to claim the ball when he decides to come for it rather than flap at it. Doesn’t breed confidence in the defence IMHO and the opposition know exactly how to put us under pressure as a result.

We all want the perfect footballer, mate. Unfortunately the only keeper who fits your bill is perhaps Allison? Even Pep junked Ederson for Trafford (until Donnarumma became available).

If we could give Kinksi's distribution to Vicario then we'd have the perfect keeper. But we can't. So we don't.

You're making "perfect the enemy of good".

The distribution is much less of an issue for me than Vic’s inability to effectively command his area.

Again this is a metric that is of secondary importance to the main skill - stopping the ball going in the net.

I, too, would like to clone Petr Cech but we can't so in the meantime I suggest we get behind out current number one who is genuinely elite at the single most important aspect of goalkeeping = shot stopping.

To buy what you want would cost north of 70 million and I'm not even sure where to start looking. But when you find them and we've sorted all our other fucking headaches - I'll be first in line behind you demanding we replace Vic 👍

I agree, I think Vic's distribution isn't too bad. His long balls aren't accurate but he's decent with his feet and dealing with backpasses.

Crosses are his biggest weakness.

I agree. But I also think his distribution is... adequate to poor.

But we can work around those things by being better across the back 4 and CDM's. But we'd be in a heap of shit of Vic hadn't' been having a golden gloves season so far.

To bring it back to Kinksi - I like him an awful lot but he's got so many weaknesses to iron out before he's a starter. Problem is he needs to play to learn.

A keeper being able to command his area isn’t a big ask IMHO.

Is there any other keeper in the prem as big a flapper as Vicario?

Genuine question as most lower level keepers seem quite capable of coming and collecting a cross.

Imagine if Vic ends up properly injured and we have to rely on this guy.
Did say plenty times on here over the summer that we needed to address the goalie situation...and that's including the mad Italian. But ENIC, Levy and all that, so for the zillionth time since they took over, they left the squad short and full of glaring holes. And with our legendary luck, course it's gonna bite us in the ass sooner rather than later. That's their MO, that's what they do...and even with the evil dwarf gone, it ain't gonna change anytime soon.

We're the undisputed kings when it comes to spunking money on shite.

You hate just about every player we have. I don’t think it’s possible to address all of them.

Let's be realistic here - forget 22 years old; you can't play 1 first team game every 2 months and be sharp. It takes a run of games.

Last year he played a few games in a row and got progressively worse
What is it that makes people want to pretend he is something he isn't?
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to think he has any more potential than any other random 22 year old keeper.

He didn't get progressively worse - the starting line up in front of him did.

The games he was playing in had a makeshift defence
