I think Frank will naturally be under a lot of pressure if we're bottom half and performances are poor but I still don't see them sacking him tbh.

I think if he finishes the season around 12th, doesn't do well in the cups and there are zero signs of improvement then he won't get a second season. But I think we're unlikely to sack him mid-season to simply chase European football even if we're lower mid-table. I really don't think we'll make any changes unless we've got a long term replacement lined up and ready to go...and I just can't see that happening mid-season.

Might happen if he was a fiery Jose/Conte type who burned all his bridges at the club and lost the players. But Frank's not that type of manager.
I don't think they'll sack Frank for not qualifying for European football but if the poor home form continues, and there's more games where the team struggle to make one meaningful shot on target, and we're 12th, by Christmas, I think the reaction from the board will be to decide, are they going to back this guy in the January window with the funds that we heard about, and let him have a say about which players he wants, or are they going to keep their powder dry. Kulusevski and Solanke should be back by or around then, along with some other players. So they might hold onto the money, because there's no point in backing a guy that they're wai1ting to see if he can avoid the sack at the end of the season.

It's just a possibility, I don't know what the board expect or how they'll behave.

Yeah interesting point and always a bit of a Catch-22.

Ideally in a DoF model the players aren't manager picks exactly, but rather signed to suit a longer term style of play that will suit the next guy through the door. However, if Frank flops it's hard to see us bringing in another guy with his sensibilities anyway so there will likely be yet another switch in style anyway.

Guess the solution is just to sign really good players. If you do that then odds are they'll probably work for the next manager regardless. Signing a one-trick pony like Traore for 40m as he's who Nuno/Conte want is very different from buying Caicedo who any manager in their right mind would be happy to have in their team.

That said, I suspect marquee signings will be left for the summer anyway regardless of who the manager is.

We didn't play the absolute worst football ever seen though. It's miserable to watch and after a fortunate start, results are starting to balance out, because statistically, that was likely to happen.

Now we're getting shit football and the results are slowing up. Playing the way he does isn't sustainable as we give up more chances than we score. He can't pick the right team. He makes the wrong subs. It's been completely uninspiring. Feels like a matter of time. Another lifeless performance against Woolwich, and the pressure will really be on.

Whatever mate.

I think you and many others are living in cloud cuckoo land, and allowing bias and nonsensical expectations to take hold.

And you or anyone using the Woolwich game to suggest it might add pressure, in the near certain likelihood that we lose, might as well start calling for Frank's head now.

Ridiculous and weird fanbase and getting worse.

This season we are 2 points better off in the EPL, Scored 4 less, conceded 3 less.
W 5 D 3 L 3... F 19 A 10.
Last season: 5-1-5, 23-13.
All comps:
Last season: 11-1-6, 39-19
This season 8-5-5, 31-16.
Won 3 fewer games, scored 8 fewer goals, conceded the same. Lost 1 less.

Not too sure the point in comparing last season, or any, with the current one. There is literally nothing about the two that are the same. What we can do is look at what Frank has to deal with, and consider where he is flagging. He needs, and did on the weekend, to make changes sooner to impact the game. The rest is all up in the air as he's only a few months in, and is dealing with a litany of injuries.

Because all conquering Rangers are full of talent.

He's worth a squad place as much as any of the front three that we currently have.
Young Dane has had all of 10 mins ist team football so far this year and dare say Mikey would be in same boat.
Young Mikey has had on recent data that i can see more than 922 mins(Approx give or take 10 games worth of game time ie ist team)
That includes European game time also .
For an 18 yr old that is invaluable to his future career in the tough new environment which he has chosen and hopefully the club will reap the benefits down the track.
I myself like nothing better than seeing the young lads getting valuable minutes and proving hopefully their worth to the team and its pretty special when its one of their own.
Nothing worse seeing the draining of confidence of a young player left on the bench week after week.

I agree, but I wouldn't even say as far down as 17th, I reckon below 12th and Frank will feel the walls closing in.

And I don't just mean Frank but probably any manager, it's a high pressure job, I can't recall the last time the club ended the season in the bottom half, other than last season.
12th is for the likes of Brentford, Fulham or Palace. Top five is the minimum. No excuse. I don't remember anyone wanting to give Nuno time...

He's been put into a situation that no other manager could navigate, and no other manager could get them to play football, haven't you heard?
Yeah, I mean I don't recall many people wanting to give Nuno time... look at Dyche at Forest. He's come in, turned them around instantly, didn't have a pre season and they are playing better football than us with a manager renowned for being defensive. I would argue that Frank can put out a team, even with all the injuries that is better than anything Forest can put out.
