Match Newcastle United VS Tottenham Hotspur. Tuesday the 2nd of December at 20:15

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

December. Played 6. Lost 3-0 to Chelsea at the start of the month.
Then next 5. Drew 2 and won 3. (11 from 18 points).

New Year’s Day. Beat Chelsea 5-3.
Then lost to palace!! But won 3 on the bounce after that. (12 from 15 points).

Frank needs that sort of points return over the next two months. If he can do that and stabilise the ship he’s doing his £8m a year job.

If he carries on with this relegation form of the last 6 matches he’s done for. (4 points from last 18)
The current players are a big issue. They are shit AND unprofessional.

You can never have a perfect squad, but most of them were sound. Generally likeable characters. Pair that with one or two superstars who aim to be better and raise standards and you are good to go. For example, going a long way back, Pochettino also had to weed out Kaboul, Chiriches or Adebayor. They were in a minority however.

This current squad is a big clusterfuck who are completely over their head. I believe many of them think they are way better than they actually are. Looking back a few years Lloris or Winks were kind of the same.

Right now I would count Vicario, Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Spence, Bentancur, Johnson and Richarlison to be the main problem makers. It is generally always this group the cause of many issues. They dont care or want to care but are additionally shit at playing football. And I am separating these from lets say Udogie, Micky, Bergvall, Gray, Odobert or Tel because they can be complicated as well sometimes, but they seem to be sound a decent young group who have potential.

But that first group needs to be taken care of. Bentancur and Romero contract extensions were fatal mistakes for the future.

Our players are fucking liberty takers. Moaning about the fans when we have only won 4 of our last 22 homes games is disgraceful.
Its extremely concerning.

Im not singling him out, but with Vicario against Fulham there is a point where you have to question the general mindset of this squad. If they even understand the consequences of giving up such a goal at home during a terrible league run.

Vicario rushes out way too early (1), does not communicate that to his players (2), keeps the ball in play (3), creates a dangerous opportunity (4) and doesnt rush back to keep it out (5). 5 major errors in succession and not just with another goal conceded as a consequence but general concerns on how we perceive them as professionals. Because this was one of those examples where I as a fan ask myself how they reached professional status.

Vicario acts like a Grade A cunt every game towards his own team mates, completely loses his shit when someone makes a mistake and points the finger at anyone else instead of holding his hands up after he has one of his trademark fuck ups.

It was't just the fact that he made one mistake and people booed him for it. It's a response that's been building after months and months of his bullshit.

Exactly this.

Gomes made less mistakes but was soon jogged on by Redknapp.

Vicario is not even an average goalkeeper in respect of being Prem standard.

Catching, kicking and playing out from the back are all attributes a Premier League goalkeeper, in 2025, must have.

Shot stopping is a minimum requirement and it is the only box this joker ticks.

It was one f-ing brain bubble; and probably only following orders .I’m sure he wouldn’t have done so otherwise.

SAF always loved it when Peter Schmeichel tore his defenders a new one . It’s a mentality thing .

Jose also wanted his players to be
Grade-A “ cunts” . And he , also , won plenty.

It’s incredible isn’t it? And you’ve got fans who seem to blame the stadium atmosphere for the results.

Well when the stadium was empty the results were still shite so what was the issue then?

If that ground was empty every week we’d still be getting turned over because the team is lacking in character and quality.

But yeah let’s blame the fans..

Comparing constant title winning Schmeical, one of the best goalies ever to our total clown!....🤣😆...Schmeical had a right to call them out most of the time...the errors were rarely his......fuckin eons apart mate!....🤷‍♂️

Yes ; but whilst Vic may not be prime Schmeichel ; he’s far more than “ just a decent keeper “ and has kept us in many games , helped us win a shed-load and even contributed significantly to us winning last season’s UEFA / Europa Cup . We are lucky to have him .

Schmeichel was playing in a better team , who won loads , with far better defenders in front of him . But his message was clearly delivered when things weren’t to his liking . An ethos instilled in him by his manager ( I’m guessing) .

Why shouldn’t we aspire to the same standards?

Genuine question.

Yes, he's a good shot stopper as shown in last years final as you say, but we need better than him going forward, as we do in most positions let's face it....🤷‍♂️

As I always say ; it may not be impossible to replace 90 % of the current playing squad with like for like improvements.

But is it actually feasible ?

No club in the world has ever done that .

We’re left with tweaking what we’ have and changing the mentality of the entire Club . Barking at defenders could be part of that process ( assuming they don’t all go crying to HR and Vic ends up in front of a disciplinary ) .

Sunderland have nearly done that this summer.
