Did he not bring all his back room staff?

Nah that's just hindsight talking. Levy had his clownish tendencies but from both a footballing and a financial perspective the goal is always European football at the absolute minimum. If the club didn't think Frank had the potential to bring us that they never would've brought him in. As for the summer - we did spend 100m+ quid on 2 highly-touted attackers and signed 2 very well established loan players. We've had far, far worse windows (on paper at least). If anything it's as much Frank priorisiting signing Palhinha's profile over a passing mid that has screwed us, rather than the club's ambition (and lots of fans were v.happy with that move at the time).I genuinely now believe Frank has been appointed not to get Top 6, but to keep us away from the bottom 3. There is no other realistic conclusion we can make.
Nowhere near enough transfer business was done in the summer to suggest there was a belief to push on and up.
Frank is not a dummy. He must look at the shower of shit and ask himself, what good looks like. That would be 10th and pretty much staying up is his job done.
No top 6 team appoints a manger from Brentford who has never won anything. But many clubs targeting survival would love to appoint Frank.
Also saying crap like we can only play 10 good games a year or something like that. As well saying we will lose games. Can you imagine Fergie, pep, kloop, Carlo etc saying shit like that. Real good way of motivating the team. Not sure if I feel bad for him, as he's going to be paid millions of pounds to coach our team for a few months. But he's a nice man and a good mid-table coach, he was over-promoted and this is on the people who gave him the job and recruited our players. Top coaches are supposed to give players answers in these games and he's not doing that, or coming anywhere close to doing that. Players look visibly disconnected from whatever his mission is, I don't think they buy him at all. That stadium has some to do with it imo, it projects a grandeur and expectation that the players we have are not capable of matching.
Wasn’t vinai heavily involved. He was the one boasting how Frank ticked all the boxes of all the candidates they went through in selection process. Said it in a previous post I want to know what their analysis was based on and what other coaches did they consider and deem not as good as Frank. Some transparency would be good. He was so sure of himself and smug about it. What does he know about football anyway. I guess they leaned heavily on fellow Dane Lange for the appointment. If Frank is binned then Lange and vinai should go to. They are the ones who says he was this tactical genius. He doesn’t even Dane a gameNuno has a clear identity.
He is better than Frank.
Frank is THFC manager because Levy liked cheap.
Now we will have to pay Frank off for Levy's mistake.
Very hard to find common ground when I have become such a cynic. So I have to say you could be right, as much as I am, if not more.Nah that's just hindsight talking. I think the board were basically hoping Frank would be a 'sensible' antidote to Ange's worst tendencies, adapt his Brentford style to be more attacking and coach/improve our young players like he did at Brentford.
Wouldn't be surprised if they were looking at Arteta's focus on combining control with having massive lads/bossing set pieces and thinking Frank might be the guy to bring that to Spurs over a long term project.
If you ever bring in a guy who hasn't managed at the top there's always an element of risk and it's simply looking like the punt isn't coming off. That doesn't means the board didn't want it to, though. And you could easily say no top 6 team appoints Arteta or Marezca too btw... sometimes unproven punts come off if you pick the right guy.
If it was my choice I’d get shot of him after tomorrow. Might as well let him do tomorrow but whatever the score get rid. He’s never going to work here, the fans are not going to really take to him now imo, the footballs absolutely awful. Some of if not the worst I’ve ever seen at spurs in relation to the ability of the players. He’s got no charisma or fear factor to galvanise the players , some of the team selections and subs are strange. There’s nothing to cling onto.
Normally one to want to give managers more time, but not this one. I’d even take Brendan Rodgers the rest of the season. He would actually do a decent job for a short period.
Brilliant postThe problem here lies completely at the top.
THFC PLC has become an entertainment business, NFL, concerts, boxing, go karts and, oh yeah a football team.
As a result, if the football team doesn't do so well it's ok because we are generating money elsewhere and thus, no need to invest too heavily.
We have lost our identity as a football club.
As for Frank, I fear he is out of his depth and attacking fans, as Ange did at Bournemouth, is the start of a slippery slope.
Not that I go, but I completely understand the reaction of fans. You are paying top dollar and getting nothing in return. 3 wins all year ffs !!!.
The goons winning the league, which they sadly will, only adds to the pressure.
Not good times but this has been growing for some while.
It's the Nuno mistake again, basically.Wasn’t vinai heavily involved. He was the one boasting how Frank ticked all the boxes of all the candidates they went through in selection process. Yes, but Frank is demonstrably not that guy. It's a conundrum isn't it? If there was a hint of improvement, we should absolutely back him, but what is the point of sticking with someone who is floundering worse as each week goes by?Football looks pretty dreadful. But we all know the job to rebuild the entire fabric, culture, staff, squad and infrastructure at the club is huge. At some point we have to back someone to sort it out. Or we’ll be changing managers every 1-2 years for eternity and getting nowhere for it. It’s fucking miserable right now. But sacking Frank would achieve nothing.
Said this all along. I want to know how the other contenders rated in their KPIs. If glassner was on the list there is no way in the world he would havecworse kpis. He has top level experience in two leagues, won fa cup and Europa with Frankfurt, knows how to okay 2/3 games a week, etc. surely those are better than anything Frank can offer. Glassner also good at developing players just look at Wharton under him.Funny thing is hardly anybody on here wanted him until it became apparent that it was him we were getting.
Then everyone started pretending he was some master tactician and we'd pulled off some kind of coup.
I still can't understand what the club was thinking in appointing this guy so soon after the Nuno debacle. It's beyond ludicrous.
It's a farce.

This pretty much sums up the manager and his tactics, look at the time

Frank has said its "fair" for Porro to post that statement.
Thing is recently we have invested shitloads on the team. We're one of the biggest spenders in Europe on transfers at least. I don't think we can blame lack of spending anymore - it's more the way we've gone about it has been a combination of messy and shite. It's always been penny wise, pound foolish and (Ndombele aside) spunking big on transfers but terrified of big wages. The problem here lies completely at the top.

I said get Scott £20M but no we went got someone else. Spurs fan as well better than allI agree with you, which is why the manager is so important. They maximise the limited potential of many players in their squads.
Villa and Newcastle have much better CMs for example. McGinn would basically be our best player.
Alex Scott at Bournemouth walks into our midfield.
Players like Porro, Udogie, Spence, Bentancur, Johnson, Tel, Odobert, Richarlison, they are nowhere near as good as fans think they are. It's complete bias.
But many people won't hear it. Odobert is a poor championship level winger. Gray has potential but is championship level, he just is. We have so many players that just aren't at the level we need. Porro is a garbage RB. He just is. Never a PL quality RB in a million years.
But in saying that, Frank is still failing miserably.
