Yeah, if Solanke, Maddison and Kulu were fit I think that would be a legit claim, as we do now have greater depth across the squad and a few promising additions.

But given those 3 are injured and Son's gone, I think our forward line has been significantly weaker this season than Ange's first season. And it's been exacerbated by RKM also being injured for all but a handful of games.

Odobert Rich and Kudus with Xavi as a 10 still adapting to the league...that's a lower mid-table front line. Significantly worse than Frank had at Brentford last season. And bringing in Tel and/or Johnson arguably makes it worse.
We did also have Johnson, Richy and Werner playing in Ange's first season. So I can see why you thought it was stronger than this seasons squad.

Having watched a lot of ROM-COMS ( don’t ask ) ; it’s only BECAUSE the doors hit Gwyneth Paltrow in the face that she returns to the flat and finds her love-rat boyfriend in bed with her best friend. Thereafter following a few travails she finds enduring love with that Scottish bloke from Four Weddings and a Funeral . And things are very much better for her thereafter.

Moral of the story; something that goes inexplicably and randomly wrong can lead to unexpected very good things happening to you in the future.

So what if we lose tomorrow , maybe things will somehow and in an unforeseen way ; ultimately turn out to be in our favour ; is all I’m saying.
Ah, but that's in the wonderful world of Movie perfection....
The RECURRING Spurs sliding doors moment I've got in mind is more this:

Funnily enough, this was probably Vicario's exact thought process on Saturday!!

Wow. How we never won the league with that I’ll never know.
I think THAT'S the point....

We couldn't do it when we had a truly GREAT team...
But had to watch on helplessly as *John Inman's Leicester Fairytale ©®™ cloggers with Harold Steptoe leading the line 'show us how it's done'!!
*Look him up Kids... You'll see what I mean!

That Poch team was arguably the best overall squad in my lifetime since the early-mid '80s teams.. but didn't have a trophy to show for it...
That's borderline criminal negligence!

Yet somehow we won a trophy with last season's squad....

Puts trophy winning into perspective!

SOMETIMES the best TEAM doesn't win!

Do you know what, it's situations like ours right now, and games like tonight that make me feel SO bullish and "FUCK YOU ALL" about Spurs...

I was at St James's in 1989 for Gazza's first return game there... A riot of a game: a Waddle 40 yard looping shot, and even Terry Fenwick got on the score sheet! 2-2
The result was what it was (mind you, what we'd give for a 2-2 tonight!)

But the point was, everyone inside the grounds, regardless of what team you supported, ENJOYED (remember that word?) the game!

We're gonna fucking go up there tonight with Gazza and Waddle behind us.... (NOT Ruel Fox though!)

I just want us to give it a go and enjoy watching a game of football again...
.not hiding behind the sofa with a noose ready over the doorframe!

Come On You Spurs.

It's THAT straightforward.

COME
ON
YOU
SPURS!

The fact Talk Shite are currently talking up Newcastle and revelling in OUR misfortune is both telling and predictable...

They LOVE to bully the weak... Right now, we're weak... And doesn't football FUCKING LOVE A WEAK TOTTENHAM to pick on?

But now more than EVER we need to fucking HIT BACK... and stuff it up their fucking GLOATING faces tonight!

I hated Tottenham at the weekend... But I STILL hate everyone else MORE!!!

You know exactly!! Conte’s record breaking Chelsea!!

For context I wonder how often that 11 actually played together?

Wanyama joined 2016.

That season Dembele started with a 6 match ban for attacking Chelsea players.
People shit on Eric Dier but 16/17 after Eriksen he played the most minutes. And made second most appearances too.

Ben Davies had more minutes that season than Danny Rose.

Both had less appearances than Vincent Jansen who was our back up striker. He was 12th most appearances. And was a bit shit if we are being honest.

Yet we finished second behind a Chelsea team that broke the record for consecutive league wins and number of wins while having no European football.

And then July 17 Walker left for City and we left WHL.

And that was that for that first 11.
Who probably hardly ever actually all played together that often.

There’s your answer!!

They will come at us hard from the start imo. If we withstand that then we have a chance. Tbh I look at Newcastle team and it doesn't ring of household names or frighten me. Barnes is a decent player and have a big lump up top.

Like the lineup, but Spence has to play this one. Gordon will have a field day against poor little Pedro. Vic will also be busy now that teams know they can shoot from distance at will.

Don't have any confidence we get a positive result here. Our utter lack of play through the middle really reduces Xavi's effectiveness... and any crosses that Kudus and Odo can muster will be neutered by their giants.

1-3 Newcastle, late consolation goal from RKM.
This is something that doesn't get as much criticism as it probably should, we've got these inverted wingers on each side, they hardly ever cross the ball, but they hardly ever cut inside and shoot either.

Kudus is more willing to put a cross in, but only after he's faffed about cutting back, then cutting forward, and then cutting back again for 30 seconds, giving the opposition more than ample time to get themselves set to defend whatever comes in.

People are saying how awful we are.
They have the same points and worse GD. With a 1/3 of the season played.

They aren’t great. There are better teams in this league.

They do however have good home form and a crowd that will be up for it.
