Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

we should look to put a better team around the likes of Romero. The moments that people are going to focus on but he was really great up until the pass(which Gray hid from)then lost his head. Laugh at people putting two goals on him. Deflected ball over his head and was fouled

he cuts out so much before it gets to being damgerous. Anyone who thinks we’re a better team without him are clueless. He’s obviously frustrated how we’re playing.

Hes in a yellow. He is petulant.

Of course Konaté dives and makes the most of it. Pathetic.

But that is not the IQ you want your captain to have.

Who wouldn’t want a few weeks off work around Christmas and the New Year .TBF

As I said in the main Livpool match thread, needs to start treating the officials with more respect and stop screaming his head off as his only form of communication with them - he really does act like a teenager out there - a petulant brat.

So ref buys a dive. He shouldnt have flicked out the way the game was officiating but he had just been mowed out of it with with a tackle from behind. Heat of moment leads to that.
Clear yellow for konate on a normal day.
His first yellow came from a clear push not been given

Think he would look incredible in a strong team.

But he's absolutely not the captain of a struggling team with a shit midfield/attack.
He gets frustrated that his teammates are rubbish, ends up trying to do too much and that leads to errors eventually.

Probably should have cashed in on him but can't see that now with the new contract unless Madrid really want him.

He would look even worse in a strong team, he only gets away with it because his team mates are mediocre and make the same brain dead mistakes as him.

If you put him next to a Saliba/Guehi/Dias level player he would rightly be called a complete donkey by comparison.

How many times has he done what he did today, where he absolutely telegraphs a pass and gives the ball to the opponent despite looking straight at them?

Internally within the club, there have got to be consequences for that. Regularly getting bookings for dissent and has now managed a red for that.

Just no calmness or intelligence to him at all. All emotion and I struggle to reconcile that with captaincy.

So, if he had better team-mates he wouldn’t do things like that stupid pass that gave away the first goal?

How does that work?

He's a tournament player. He will never win you a league. He can focus for a tournament but not a season, been saying this for a year sell him and go find a leader from somewhere.
I think he would be fine in a functioning team across a season. Don't think he'd look out of place at Madrid, for example, and you can't say that about many others in the squad.

But he's too emotionally volatile to be captain of a struggling lower to mid-table team.

He probably wouldn't have to yell at the refs so much if our coaches, exec and board weren't such pussies themselves in calling out the refs. Not a great excuse of course but I can see why he is frustrated and feels he needs to take things into his own hands- our management at almost every level seems fucking inept.

Wow... That's kind of a against the grain/climate take.

I mean.... People are pissed at the officiating; complaining that we as a club always take it lying down, but somehow our captain needs to hush up despite the VVDs of this world getting carte-blanch to continuously shit-talk and get in refs faces? ....Simultaneously our players routinely get called "pussies" that don't care?

Footballing blunders aside (and yes his kick-out was the architecture for his red card); Rom should just be a nice polite, subservient boy to the ref if he feels we're getting a massively raw deal?

it is funny when fans think hes one of the problems! hes one of the only players at the club who when they move will be moving upwards, think that says all you need to know! romero, VDV and probably muani, are the only players that if they moved tomorrow would go and play in a better team, scary shit really.
