Yep he is a good player but has limitations. Our issue wasn’t missing Eze or buying Simons. It’s Maddison’s injury, Maddison is a different level to both of them and his injury hurt us badly.
Our issue is that we don't do our homework or just ignore history & logic. The whole world knew Maddison was injury-prone. So why sign him in the first place? What a big club would've done is sign a guy better and fitter than Madders. But 40mil is much better than 80-100.

I highly doubt Real M. are after Porro but if it's true I would not be against selling him for around £35-40...but then Spurs would must to sign at least another RB and LB...

You know the world is fucked when Porro is seen as reinforcement for Trent.

This might be the only time I've ever seen ENIC be called "stupid fuckers" because of the idea they might actually spend some money

This forum is gold sometimes
You gormless numpty. What is gold is your complete lack of understanding of the post. ENIC have always spent money. Its how's they spend it I have an issue with.

Why would you want to give valluable funds in January to a manager who green lighted the signing of Simons for 60m, thought RKM and Palhinha were good loans, continues to create new lows with every passing performance and who will undoubtedly be sacked soon. Why not keep that war chest for a proper manager and allow them to spend big to fix the mess that Frank is creating.

Was he really that injury prone before we got hold of him? A few days or a couple of weeks here and there but nothing like now

No manager should ever be a barrier or an excuse for not signing players and strengthening the first XI, no matter how poor he's performing or how close he is to the sack.

It wouldn't happen at any other big club .

That said, I can see Thomas Frank himself being an obstacle for attracting the quality of player our resources and ticket prices warrant. The guy just screams dull football, lack of ambition, and a top 10 ceiling.

I'm still bewildered so many on here thought (or more likely pretended) he was a good appointment in the first place.
I disagree. If the board are remotely contemplating sacking him, and lets hope they are, then they need to keep what limited funds we have for the next guy. I wouldn't even give him the Johnson money. Frank can spend another 200m and the end result will be exactly what you're looking at now. He's out of his depth and needs to be put out of his misery.

In isolation I have no problem with this, I'm fine with us picking up bright young players for the future. My problem is we're still not getting the oven ready pros for right now.
Surely there's a young English/British left back out there, one with plenty upside but already experienced in the EFL. Might not even cost us 8 mil, no 3rd party ownership crap, no language barrier etc.

Really winds me up how we always look abroad first.

Or, hear me out, we improve the squad for whoever is in charge this year or next and stop cutting off our noses to spite our faces?

Quality is quality no matter who the manager is and right now we have none. But I have a feeling you'd rather we sign nobody to address the huge holes just so you can sit on here and whine about how shit we are because you love the misery. I'd rather we just got on with being better.

The players we are linked with don't match with the desire ENIC spoke after Levy sacking. They knows nothing about football . Nothing changes.

And that ex scum Vinai looks prime to sabotage us than thinking to run us better than previous.

Getting rid of Frank and Lange will instantly make us better without buying a single player. That's a guarantee.

We have spent 500m in 2.5 seasons but If as you say we have no quality, why do you want the same again. What makes you think that Frank and Lange are going to buy quality. They haven't so far but sure lets spunk more money on stocking fillers that the next manager casts aside because they don't fit their formation or philosophy.

The only hole we have is a managerial one. Fill that, and I'll be ecstatic.

We owe nearly 300m in transfer fees and have about 60m owed to us. That's 240m on the credit card that has to be paid at some point in the next couple of seasons. We still have stadium loans to pay and won't have income from European football next season. I don't know why people think an investment company with that balance sheet are going to spend more money.

I rate Paqueta, he would be a good signing.

We have to be realistic, we’re not very enticing to play for currently and that will be even more so if we miss out on Europe this season. If Paq can come in and get us even just a conference spot, then we can start the rebuild in the summer - £35m would be cheap in my opinion.

Also has the added bonus of more or less sealing West Ham’s relegation - probably the only thing we will be able to cheer at the end of the season

Yeah maybe. I'm just cautious about this whole betting thing. We can probably do better but I suppose an upgrade is an upgrade

Be nice to sign spurs fans for once though

With Dragusin back in the squad, and Kulu expected back soon, it will be interesting to see what happens with the now spare Champions league squad spot.

If we sign another player who goes straight it, Dragusin, Kulu and Tel will likely feel hard done by.
