These kinds of thoughts are just never on my mind…
Yeah the peak Poch squads had an amazing first 11 but always lacked genuine quality in depth. If you actually look back at some of our benches when we were really good, it's quite shocking how poor they are compared to some of our more recent benches.Yes, Poch has some exceptional players, but not in all positions. You could argue that his bench was worse.
Vicario, Kinsky vs Lloris, Vorm, Gazzaniga
Danso / Dragusin vs Wimmer, Sanchez, Fazio, Foyth
Bentencur, Palhinha, Sarr, Bergvall, Bissouma vs Dier, Sissoko, Winks, Skipp, Dembele, Onomah, Wanyama
Spence / Udogie vs Rose, Walker Peters
Porro vs Aurier / Tripps
Eriksen, Dele, Lamela vs Maddison, Simmons, Kulu
Richarlison, Solanke, Kolo, Kudus, Odobert, Tel vs Kane, Son, Moura, Njie, Nkoudu, Jannsen, Llorente
Okay, so, instead of the irrelevant arguement of years ago, this squad for the most part, finished 5th.It really is this bad though, name one player, just one, that Frank has had available to him since the start of the season, that would get into Poch's Spurs side? Fuck me I'd be surprised if more than 2 of them made the bench. Our squad with every player fit and the fortune to scrape through a season without injuries to key players, could probably scrape 5th again, looking at absolute best case scenario and factoring in how weak other teams at the top are this season, but our front line was decimated before a ball even got kicked this season, I think it's ridiculous to infer that Frank's football will never look any better or different from this when he's never been equipped with the tools to play expansive, passing football from the word go.
There's no way he's taking us down with how shit the bottom 3 are, and Chavs going in for a substitute teacher off a club they also own should tell you all you need to know about who's available at the moment, I really see no difference letting Frank have the rest of the season with some reinforcements in January vs bringing in an interim who the players know will only be around for 5 minutes and won't meaningfully change anything in the short term anyway.
I think it would be more that we've got a CEO who's defnitely NOT trigger happy. Captain Scarlets first 2 PL seasons were pretty awful but they stuck with him. Now look at them. I should think a lot at the Goons realsised early on that Unai was a good manager and they shouldve given him more time.

Again though who were the players putting points on the board for that 5th finish, Madds, Son, Kulu, he had 10 games of motivated Biss who is a better midfielder than any of the current lot, can't just ignore that Frank hasn't had the same luxury. Best he can manage atm is playing Xavi with Bergvall and a 6 behind them but that doesn't change how fucking dire the front 3 are either.Okay, so, instead of the irrelevant arguement of years ago, this squad for the most part, finished 5th.
Every one of those players walks into a Sunderland.
With a caretaker and losses, the fans aren't too upright, as you say, the bottom 3 are so bad, that whatever. But at least we'll know there's change coming. Keep going with this idiot, the mood gets very sour, fans get very angry, boo the board, etc bad for revenue which is all ENIC care about. So that won't happen should this shite drag on.
The bulk of that team is playing. He also got in two attacking players to the tune of £110m and a DM that he really wanted from Bayern, with lots of English experience. So let's not pretend he doesn't have those players and he's shit out of luck.Again though who were the players putting points on the board for that 5th finish, Madds, Son, Kulu, he had 10 games of motivated Biss who is a better midfielder than any of the current lot, can't just ignore that Frank hasn't had the same luxury. I don't even know what you're trying to say tbh. Are you honestly happy with this squad? Or is it simply that you're afraid if you admit the squad was already not good enough for our lofty ambitions as fans and 75% or so of the G/a contributors are currently sat in the physio room having never played a competive game for Frank it somehow accounts for an admission that maybe Frank isn't literally Hitler? The bulk of that team is playing. He sets teams up not to lose, can't work out who his best XI is, was supposed to shore up the back, and with a fully fit backline for the most part, which is the only decent part of this side, still absolutely terrible at the back.
If there was signs that there was coaching going on and results weren't good, no problem. But there's no excusing Frank. This is not a side that is doing this badly. Also, the players missing that people are going on like balon dor winners, are patchy, at best. Madders goes missing in a lot of games, misses loads every season. Kulu, people detest and celebrated the Kudus signing as replacing Kulu.
It's just shite. And whoever we get, will almost certainly do a better job.
The squad is shite, not helped by an incompetent manager. As bad as the squad is, they're capable of playing a semblance of football.I don't even know what you're trying to say tbh. I'm honestly not bothered, we might change manager and get more offensively minded in the setup but we won't do any better, least not until the midfield is sorted out. What do you reckon Xavi would do with that midfield? Probably fucking quit i imagine.
OH MY DAYS!
WHAT ARE THEY DOING?
