Theres a guy here at work, professional "manager", basically

He has done a bunch of courses on management, and engineered himself a role as a manager

But heres the thing, he doesnt actually DO anything

He speaks like Frank, all the buzzwords, all the corporate speak. He likes organising meetings, in which he gets no action. He likes being in meetings on important projects, so he looks important, but he's basically just there taking notes. He has very regular 121s with his staff, but they all say the 121s are completely useless - but he at least gets to tick that box. He likes organising "Retros" where you fill in a template, and then never return to it again.

All of this is genuine, by the way, its fascinating to watch.

The point being, its completely superficial. He goes through the motions of being a manager, he says the things that managers say - but it is completely evident at this point he hasnt a clue what actually MAKES a manager. He's hollow, got no substance. So now I watch him flounder when asked to do something, its quite funny.

All of which is to say, a little while ago, Frank just reminded me of this guy - and now I cant unsee it.
Funny though, it's an eerily accurate description of watching our players pretend to be footballers too.

The season is a write off, I am getting to the point now where I actually hope we get thrashed over the next few games just to speed up the process of getting Frank and Lange out.

I don't see any successful future for us whilst they both remain at the club.

My big fear is that Vinai is completely in behind them because he has no clue what he is doing, and they are doubling down, even when it is clear it isn't working.

They are all just in self preservation mode.

Agree with all of this.

When Villa spank us on Sunday (they're hoping for a miracle or Villa not going full strength) they'll feel the real wrath of the fans.

It's going to be hugely toxic.

I think the three musketeers are in complete denial.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but there is a counter-argument to most of those points:

1. We won't want to pay the compensation to him and his staff.
True, but we've done it many times before so it wouldn't exactly be a shock.

2. The board won't want to admit they got it wrong yet again and will drag their feet as long as they can.
As above - and in many ways, this one feels a bit like Nuno, and if we had a high-calibre manager available that we liked, then Frank might already have gone...

3. Franks not had his best eleven fit all season due to long-term injuries and I suspect he's been granted some dispensation for this by the board who as I mentioned in a post elsewhere look to have pretty much written this season off. Of course they won't say that part out loud , but the lack of activity in the window speaks volumes.
I expect you're right, but it could equally be that they don't want to bring in any players now if they recognise that they might have to sack Frank in the next week or so.

4. There is nobody out there that would want to come here. If United are struggling to get a full time manager and going with a stop gap it's indicative that it's a bit barren.
Or have United decided who they want and need to wait for the summer to get them?

5. The board have indicated they want to give a manager time.
Don't all boards always say that, pretty much up until the day the manager is fired?

Not saying I necessarily agree with your analysis, but there is another plausible way of looking at each of those points...
Fair

the biggest issue is player empowerment and apathy. they gave frank a look and decided they didn't like him or his football and decided to just mail it in and frank just isn't the kind of person to get them back in line. poch and conte briefly were the only coaches with the personality to whip our players into shape but even they eventually failed because they didn't get the support at the board level to move on or freeze out under performing players and bring in competition for the starters. the fix is a top to bottom reprogramming of the entire club and that likely only comes from a sale to someone else.

in the short run we need someone to bench the players who aren't playing up to standards and when asked why they aren't playing to tell the truth, "they aren't playing because their effort and performance is poor." but we won't see that because we might hurt their feelings or hurt their value in the transfer market or whatever. winning has to be the only goal and barometer and until that happens we'll continue to wander in the desert for another 40 years
Certainly and issue... not our biggest one...

Certainly and issue... not our biggest one...

The biggest issue is that there is no biggest issue. We have a board that is basically the rich children of a rich investment tycoon; we have a director/leadership team that has no head and just seems like a group of bumbling morons; we have a clearly overmatched and uninspiring manager; we have a roster of mismatched, undercooked, overvalued players put together with no apparent expertise or vision.

It would be hard to find a more top-to-bottom broken team than this.

Thomas Frank on whether his Spurs team has shown enough to warrant him getting more time:“No doubt about that. Put it this way, would we love to be higher in the table and have more points? 100 per cent. We are working very hard every single day to make sure we perform well and we land in the best possible position at the end of the season… I am working hard with the staff, with the players, with the leadership and this is just a tough spell. We will get through this.”

HOW is he changing anything? WOrking hard at doing more of the same just gets us more of the same...

We need it to get so toxic that the Lewis's step in and sack all of them. Vinai is not making the decision.. He hasn't got the balls.

More so Maddison for me, but we know that isn't this season. Kulusevski a close 2nd.
I saw this on the official club website;

Thomas said: “We know it's a complicated injury. If there's one person who can accelerate that, it's Dejan. He's a top pro and has got a top mentality. The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee. He got an injection to help that 10 days ago. We know in three to four weeks if it's settled and when it's settled, hopefully, he’ll be on the grass and from there, we’ll see what’s happening.”

So February at the absolute earliest.

Oh God please not this again, sure there may be a sweet spot where we're good but not too good that it becomes expensive that maximises profitability, but being absolutely shite in no way lines their pockets more than being good would.

There's nothing nefarious at play, it's purely incompetence.
i'm not suggesting a nefarious conspiracy. i'm saying the goal of everyone at the club is to get paid a lot of money, not win things. this includes the majority of the players too. tottenham hotspur is a giant milk cow and they're all sucking at the teats

Working on passing drills would be a start

BUT - if I may add - Lloris was still there under the period that gained the vast majority of our points that season. He just was frozen out until January.

You've totally missed out there that this season has had no Maddison, no Son, no Solanke, no Kulusevski
How many games did Lloris play in Ange’s first season?

And nobody is denying the injured players have had a negative effect. A lot easier to do without them, than try to replace Kane with Richarlison. And nobody Maddison, but replaced by €65m Simons. No Son, replaced by nobody, fair. No Solanke, but replaced by €35m Tel and World Cup Winner RKM. No Kulu, but replaced by €55m Kudus.

Frank doesn’t have all his tools available, but he should be doing a fuck of a lot better with the ones he has. Or do you disagree?

No idea who this guy is but he works at Talksport and followed by Ornstein.

Dont see him surviving if we lose to Villa, it will be a horrible atmosphere. If he does limp on its because there is no one else. Seems inconceivable he'll last into next season, probably have to win the cup and finish top half. But again, just getting rid of him might be a short term boost but the majority of the players, Lange/Paratici need to be not far behind.

Cunt off brewing.

Assistance may be needed.

Or what passes for a cunt off nowadays!

Just watched Frank presser and he talks biggest bullshit. The supporters will. Not be fooled and will soon show him.Still talking about Kulu will be out for at least another month and kudos out till march. As for Solanke who knows as Frank never tells the truth. We need buys now not 3 weeks time.but who would want to come to a mess like us.The owners must prove their boasts and be ruthless and get rid of Frank now
So Kudus is actually April, which April I am not too sure on but based on our physio team we are probably looking at April 27.

You can put a line through Bentancur for the rest of the season. Being reported as a Grade 3 hamstring strain so that's minimum 3 months. You can probably go ahead and add Bergvall in the see you next season category too.

My understanding on the Kulusevski injury is that he fractured his patella which based on his profession is probably 12 months. I believe he had his operation in April last year and has also had an infection to deal with... I would wager we won't see him again this season especially if he is still trying to deal with pain in the knee.

Udogie looks like he might make the bench this weekend but Solanke is still 2-3 weeks away.

Maddison is obviously out for the season

Question for CJJ - you often accuse Ange of injuring our players last season. For clarity, can we make the same accusation of Frank now? He has clearly overplayed Bentancur and Kudus. Bergvall played last night with an injury so no surprise he's now out. Solanke was rushed back for the City game and hasn't been seen since. Using your logic, it seems to me like Frank is accountable for our injuries piling up. Would you agree?
