Def think when got the bad concussion and then
tried to come back too early with the national team,shows he has to be carefully managed for his own good.
Looking at the chart more closely, some of the wedges have changed colors and, even though the actual numbers have improved, the wedges are considerably smaller making it look as though Bergvall has regressed.
I don’t like Frank. I never wanted him in the first place but this ‘chart’ looks as though it was created by someone with an agenda.

His non-penalty xG is 0.10 this season compared to 0.05 last season, yet the wedge for the 0.05 one is about 4 times the size of the 0.10 one. Plus half the stats have changed between the seasons which is comparing apples to oranges.
Terrible manipulation of data, even if there is likely some truth behind it.
Seen Nathan do that quite a few times, he posted an average position chart earlier in the season but it was one he made on tactical-board.com and he'd moved players positions to fit his point that we went man to man. Sort of undermines the whole point of TEI if your fixing the stats to force narratives.

Disappointing in the sense that he'll miss out on minutes and so opportunity to develop and impress, on the other hand, I don't really feel like this hampers the side too much aside from one less body for rotation.
He's still very young but with the exposure he's had he really needs to start showing either a creative spark, or a consistent goal threat, or a greater level of positional discipline for playing a deeper role.
The coaching isn't helping him by shuffling him around the midfield with little to no direction, but he's not helping himself by failing to show something (anything!) to stake a claim for any of the roles in particular.
At the moment it feels as though he's just taken up the role of "good set of lungs and a decent attitude" that Sarr has been coasting by on for 3 years.

Regarding him not showing anything and only being lungs.
But agreed on the side of shuffling around. That surely distorts the picture.
Another issue with current setup and coaching is that... we really do not play midfield at all... so it is difficult to be effective #8 when coaching instructions are to hoof the ball upfield and pray.
If it was not for that, I would have liked to see Palhinha-Bergvall CM duo. One pure destroyer, other box-to-box player with eye for occasional (though not very consistent) vertical passing. Now the 2nd CM spot is pretty much nailed to Gallagher though.
That being said - if actually Frank would be (which I see very little proof in last 4 months) adapting to specific situations then I would very much like to see 4-3-3 with frontline of -

It probably does sound harsh considering I do actually like him, I just don't particularly see exactly what he is.
I'd lean towards attacking midfield, but without any real goal threat, or eye for an assist, or even the old Modric assist to the assist, it's difficult to make that argument with a straight face.
He's certainly not defensive minded, nor one of those metronome type players who keeps the tempo, quite the opposite if anything, he's more the type to hare around at 100mph which can be nice for fans to see someone putting in the effort tbf, but ultimately it means he gets grouped in that catch all "he's an 8" which just seems to mean that a player doesn't do any particular defined role.
He needs some proper coaching from a guy with a clear plan for him before too long or his potential may go to waste, Ange certainly wasn't the man to do this, nor does it appear Frank is either.
I don't mean he hasn't shown anything btw, he's shown some very nice glimpses, but they're not sustained. His ability needs to be properly harnessed and focussed on a set role. As it is it feels like he just pops up anywhere on the field, and sometimes does something nice but not really with any real impact on the game.

Real shame about his injury - I thought today was a clear reminder of why he's far better as an 8. Always positive on the ball, looking to drive forward, happy to take it on the half turn. It was the best he's looked in ages.
Luckily we've got Gallagher and Bissouma to come back in against Burnley, but again does make me wonder why we prioritised Gallagher when we've got such a talented player who is perfect for that position. Like, Gallagher's good and no doubt more consistent but Lucas's potential is sky-high in that role. Need to make sure we get him the minutes he needs there.

we need the depth tho dont we, gray and bergvall are playing far too much in a struggling side imo. maybe it will be what makes them, but i dont think a big club should be rinsing out two teenagers like this.
