The thing is unlike a fair few , I actually think Gray has heaps of Talent, didn't help him playing CB most of last season however he looks like he has got worse since joining us and he is not the only one!!!
Like you say Spence has got worse by being played on the left, he looked terrible when trying to play on the right against Villa , Porro hasn't been great but the drop off was mental, even Sarr has looked a shadow of himself, maybe I have Spurs tinted glasses on but we have some serious young talent in this squad yet they are all going to dog shit!

It's a balance as we need to buy these kids before they are so good that they are snapped up by City or Madrid.

So there is always risk.

The problem is we have been a dysfunctional team for so long.

Tbf to Ange that's one thing he got spot on.

When he was asked in a press conference why has he not given Archie Gray a chance in midfield he responded "because i want to win games, the most important thing is to win games."
 
I think he needs a loan.

He's miles off the level we need currently.

I think actually it's a fucking embarassment that a player at that level is having to start PL games for us in midfield. That isn't on Gray, that's on the club.

He has potential, but I am still not really sure what he's good at. He might becomes a Rice type player which would be amazing, or he might end up like an Eric Dier or Harry Winks in midfield, let's be honest.

I think he will benefit from Johnson being sold. In Maddison's recovery videos him and Johnson are constantly dicking about. It might bring himself into focus a bit without Johnson there.

When did I say he was lazy? Point me to it. I said he can run but is chasing shadows all the time because hes always 5 yards behind play as his positional sense is horrific.

Now youre posting stats about him running.....yippee well done...what about every other stats that he's literally one of the worst midfielders in the league at?? The stats you dare not respond to lol.

Don't continue to be disingenuous mate as it doesn't suit you. You're a good poster generally but you spoil it when it involves players/people you've supported from the beginning. When that happens you're a lost cause.

The problem is the balance in the squad is all wrong, we have bought far too many young players who need hand holding and bedding in at the same time.

And so , with the team totally fucked and languishing near the bottom, we go to Brazil and sign another one .

Gray is quality. Intelligent, technical, mature and able to cover multiple positions.

I admit, I thought he was more ready to come in and dominate from the get go. I underestimated how tough the prem is for teenagers these days.

He's still the top British teenage CM getting minutes in the PL. I get that you don't see it, that's fine.

The stats dont see it.

You use stats when you think it's suits your arguement (when you thought he was having a better game then Bentancur).....then you ignore them when they don't...then you bring up stats again when it's a useless stat about how much a player fucking runs.

You're all over the place.

Gray is average. His football IQ needs a lot of work. And he's getting minutes at a very poor Tottenham, pal...and not even using them well.

But yeah, he's the next Pirlo. Same way Odobert is Ronaldinho reborn and Tel would score 58 PL goals this season if only he got Richy's gametime.
 
Like quite a few of them, Gray should be on the fringes of the team and getting a look in from the bench - and certainly not a starter.

That’s not a criticism of the players but the hollowed out squad.

The geezer is absolutely cooked when it comes to Archie Gray much like he was with Ange.

He can't bring himself to admit defeat so he blindly defends, closes his eyes and ears when evidence is presented stating otherwise, then blindly defends again. Rinse and repeat.

It will end the same way as it usually does and even then, when it's clear to literally everyone that he's not good enough and we are trying to flog him he will come up with one last defence before he's out the door.

The kid might improve, he's still just that...a kid. Get a proper manager and serious players around him, and you never know.

But yeah, as of right now, he's not shown anything resembling star potential. I see better younguns in the Champo and League One week in week out.
