Player Pape Sarr

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Pape is a tough decision with Gallagher coming in tbh.

He has the talent physically and is better than he gets credit for technically. Plays well in big games.

But, struggles to impact long stretches of games. He's a fits and spurts type of guy and he's also not always aggressive/assertive enough.

Frank had him in form and he looked perfect for his transition style, then he dropped him and he picked up a knock. Something like that always seems to happen.
I'd speak to Bournemouth about a swap kinda thing with Scott...or Palace with Wharton...or Brighton with Baleba. If we went after Locatelli, maybe Juve would be keen on Sarr and vice versa.

I think Palhinha will do enough for us to get him on a permanent.
Then we hopefully add another passing 6 to build the midfield around.

This will be more about who the coach is.

If the next coach wants to play with the football, Palinha won't be staying here permanently.

Let's say it's Poch who is press first and burns out legs in a hurry... I can't see him wanting a 32 year old #6 either.

The only way Palinha is here next season is if Frank is, or if the next coach is someone like Marco Silva.

I guess it's his turn. He isn't even close to being the next one out the door for me.
So many more to ship out first. Boys on low wages never a days trouble actually contributes pretty much responsible for the cup win ( we have never lost to Man United when he plays oddly) and clearly suffering personally and Son going didn't help. My hope is he gets mins in the final and they win and he comes back with a bit of joy back in him.

Love Pape in full flight in a Spurs jersey when on it…..
The day i see him in a game and actually stop put his foot on the ball ,look up ,breath and actually take a look around…

Will be the day i say yeah hes finally learning the game of football.

He will be 31 in July. If we can get Bayern down to 15m we might sign him. We’ve wasted enough money on boys .
Makelele couldn’t pass very well but nobody seemed to bother.
Get it and give it to Gallagher.

Still think it will depend on who the coach is.

There’s a reason Palinha didn’t work at Bayern. If our next coach has a similar mindset to passing the ball, is the club investing millions into a player with zero resale value? I’m not seeing it tbh

I don't think there's much more room for growth with this guy

He is what he is , useful in some types of games but nowhere near rounded enough to be a regular starter for a team with high aspirations
I really like him and have always thought there was something special about him. Im desparate for him to do well but Im starting to think youre probably right. Im more than happy for him to stick around another couple of years though as he does have his uses and is still only 23. As someone said above, he is the least of our worries.

I'm still waiting for Sarr to have two consecutive good games for us. He's another of the many who are inconsistent. You get a good game out of him, think he's come good all of a sudden, then another 5 games where he's anonymous. He's not the only one, we have too many like this.

Teams doing better than us have some poorer players who are playing better, consistently better, in comparison to our better players who are playing consistently poorly.

Yeah exactly. Decent player but now we've signed Gallagher something's gotta give. We can't just stockpile all these young players who excel in the same position when there aren't enough minutes to go around. And while he's good, his main strength is his engine at a time when we're crying out for technique and craft in midfield. I also think he's better suited to playing in a midfield 3 rather than a pivot anyway, so I'm not sure where he truly fits into the team atm.

I think years of threadbare squads under Levy have conditioned us into thinking we'd be insane to sell anyone young and talented. But the reality is, Gallagher is better than Sarr and Bergvall looks the more talented prospect so how are we planning to get Sarr regular minutes? Maybe we could sell Gray, but given his age, homegrown status, fee and versatility, I think Sarr's the more obvious sale, even if he's better than Gray at the moment.

We can probably double our money on him and then reinvest in the areas of the squad that desperately do need strengthening. We need to be a bit more ruthless moving forward and can't just keep all these players for the sake of it or they'll just stagnate on the bench and lose value or leave for cheap/free at the end of their contracts (the Levy special).

Its all to do with the basic fundamentals being coached at an early age ieLa Masia Barca,
Their kids dont move on to each aspect of the game taught religiously off the park and on it
till its fully ingrained and 2nd nature to them.

Dont think yeah but these guys are at a prem league club and should know the game by now

Has Pape or Archie really added anything to their games that you can really say has improved them at the club !!Id say both of them have stagnated…
And Pape has had 3 and bit yrs to kick on…

Id say their coaching at the club has been bang average ..

Probably the most sellable of the CMs that we won’t keep because of a logjam. I like him more as a 6/8 than an 8/10 and I think that’s where he has excelled when he has excelled only not often enough. Thought he was going to really kick on at the beginning of the season but his progress has stalled whether it’s down to the lad hitting his ceiling, coaching or a combo. CG was a better player at Sarr’s age and still is.

Sarr is definitely the next one to go, selling him makes the most logical sense, been around for 4 years and hasn't really improved that much although I do think like many of the talents who end up leaving we have failed him a little...been on his 3rd coach since he's come to the club and you can't really argue that many of our other players have actually improved either, its what it is.

I like Sarr but he should really have nailed down a starting spot for us and he hasn't.

Hes around 4 years older than Bergvall and Gray. So not really a young player in our CM spots.

With Bentancurs injuries and stuggles for consistent form, Bissoumas issues, PEH getting sold.

He hasn't made the most of his opportunity and I think he gets sold in the summer

Yeah hes not consistent enough. Like him, love to see him do well but needs a massive 6 months now to stay

There's apparently some interest re a loan from a few clubs in Ligue 1...Monaco, Lyon, Nice, Rennes (their coach is Senegalese)...even leaders Lens as their new CM signing picked up a bad injury at AFCON.

Don't think the club will entertain it with all the injuries, but you never know with Spurs.

This is quite a fair assessment and hard to disagree with as things stand.

Decision time looms and whether it is made by Frank, who surely won't be at the club for the long-term or his successor, we need a bit more from Sarr, or to seek to move him on.
