I find it can be easy to get riled up at Frank and his crew, as following us this season so far has pissed me off so much, so frequently.

But then in calmer moments I also begin to consider the fact that they're having to try and rectify almost 2 whole years of complete non-coaching, and I say almost purely for the spell at the beginning before Chris (?) Davies left to manage Brum.

The worst aspects of our play, the inability to pass, control a ball, move into space all began to creep in the season before last under Ange, and snowballed to the extent that by the end of last season the players looked utterly bereft of any footballing ability whatsoever. Yes, even in our crowning moment of glory, the technique on display barely even looked amateur level.

The job of un-fucking what was royally fucked good and proper for 2 years, isn't ever going to be a short term fix whoever's tasked with it.

What a load of utterly deluded Deranger twaddle. :roflmao:

It's as if the dying embers of the Conte reign - and the cataclysmic disaster of the Stellini/Mason interregnum never happened.

When Postecoglou took over we'd had 6 months of good football out of 4 fucking years of anti-football as a succession of managers had us dropping deeper and deeper into our own 12 yard box. We thought it would take years to sort that shit out. Postecoglou sorted it out in 6 weeks - simply by moving the line up; and telling the fucking players he trusted them - and demanded of them - to play forward football.

It was breathtaking to watch for half a season then we started to regress to the mean as injuries took over and Bissouma's golden patch ended but this pretence that we didn't play football - as opposed to the dross before and whatever the fuck it is we were trying with Bentinha - is utter fucking horseshit peddled by the same people who promised us "any half decent manager will have us flying up the table".

Well, Frank is the poster child of "half decent manager" - how's that worked out for you, you utterly ridiculous clowns?

We don't play good "football" because we a) don't have manager who wants too but more importantly b) we don't have enough actual technical footballers in the squad and never did.

Blimey... Such utter twaddle. It's embarrassing to read, mate. Get a grip.

Not sure what makes people so certain that he has no chance of getting another season.

Think of:
  • How expensive of a hire he was relative to his standing in the game: 10M to Brentford + whatever him and his staff are getting paid. Call it sunk cost and therefore irrelevant to the final decision all you like; we all know this is not how it works in reality
  • Vinai and his experience with Arteta that we keep getting leaks about
  • That 17th place finish that Frank keeps referring to: Under a quite narrow definition of the term success that places the emphasis on gradual improvement, Frank finishing this season let's say 12th would constitute success. Or at least wouldn't constitute [massive] failure that would make his sacking only a matter of time
  • Frank being a so called spreadsheet manager. This is used in a pejorative manner; but it could very well work to his advantage in terms of allowing him to talk a good game with numbers and graphs to instill confidence in the board that he knows what he's doing
Some players might [continue to] sulk, like Kane did with Nuno; but then none of these guys are so good that you can seriously consider sacking the manager just to appease.

Unless the board have already started planning on Operation Pochettino like people keep alluding to here, I can't see a more probable outcome than them continuing to roll the dice with Frank and hoping that time alone magically fixes things.
Because while performances stay the same, and until now have shown no indication that they'll change, the fans won't have it.

It'll become too loud to ignore very soon.

Reckon he’s the Matt Wells / Ryan Mason replacement in more ways than one.

More likely he’s part of the next coaching staff than he gets paid off imo.

He was Slott’s assistant last season and has managerial experience. Does someone like that just come in as Thomas Frank’s defensive coach?

Hes perfect for an interim role until a new man is hired.

Completely agree, I think this may prove to be the most important addition of the window.

The Board know that if they get rid of Frank, Cochrane is most likely to go with him leaving us with nobody to appoint as interim.

He was managing Ajax at the start of the season and so highly doubt he'd now be content with the role he's been given, might even be a nice incentive for Slot to join if the scousers do go with Alonso in the summer.

This must be the 2nd time in two days I've seen the word "journeyman" used totally incorrectly
Eh? It's used perfectly correctly in the above context to denote the difference between someone who has completed their apprenticeship and is qualified to do their job but is not yet a "master craftsmen"

Ie: a "half decent coach" but not "elite" (which the OP clearly doesn't believe Frank or Heitinga to be) 🤷‍♂️

“I'm very aware how this football world works, no doubt about that. I know that we haven't got enough of the results we want.I know I can just see the small steps we're constantly doing. I still refer to the last six games with more positive, consistent performances, not perfect, but there's some good signs of a team.”

Which games?

Liverpool 2-1 (Some okplay at the end when the players were desperate still scored from a corner)
Palace 0-1 Spurs Scored from a corner had maybe two good moves.
Bretford 0-0 Spurs Did anything happen in this game
Spurs 1-1 Sunderland drew to a poor Sunderland side with 6 players at Afcon.
Bournemouth 3-2 Spurs Only the early goal was good
Spurs 1-2 Villa we got desperate and played goodfootball for 15 minutes.

No signs things are going to get better.

Yes, let's hope his speciality is as an assistant , he has only been a coach at 1st team level since 2023 before that it was u21's and younger.
The Liverpool squad were reportedly very sad to see him go. He was a popular guy that helped a lot with the man management.

That may be a reason for bringing him in since Frank seems to struggle a bit with that element. That they'll balance each other out.

Imo heitinga is an upgrade on wells. Heitinga been involved with ajax but we need more higher calibre people involved with club albeit coaching, academy or ambassador. Would definitely have vertonghen, alderweireld and van der vaart involved in some capacity at club.

We've managed to actually look worse under Frank which is some feat.

I think it's okay to suggest we went backwards under the previous manager but to suggest that this manager shouldn't have the fingers pointed at him is objectively hilarious, Frank is doing a shit job in pretty much all aspects and so far a worse job than our previous one.
