Transfer Other Team Transfers

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That's how you spend 100 million burning a hole in your pocket really. Guehi and Semenyo instead of haggling with some unknown Brazilian team for an unknown teenager but it is what it is .
It all comes down to wages and prestige

We don’t pay the wages the top players need, so we have to go for higher fee/lower wage punts. Additionally, the upper echelon of talent like Semenyo/Guehi would never consider running down their contracts to join us, whereas they absolutely will for the City/Madrid/Bayerns of the world.

We have a lot of money, but zero prestige and a frustratingly low wage structure.

£20m for Guehi is insanely cheap.

It is but this is the advantage of being the best. Players wants to come to you and with just 6 months left on the contract it’s cheap.

We would have signed him and Cherki if we could have but both those players know City have a much bigger chance of winning top honours than us and paying more wages.

This is where spending money historically (even if it’s dodgy) saves money.

That's clever by Guehi.

He will go straight into the team and unlike Liverpool, he won't have the huge job of replacing Van Dijk, which is nigh on impossible.

Yeh it’s perfect. Ruben Dias is very replaceable, he has gotten away with playing with such elite players. Gvardiol is a brilliant cross LCB/LB but he isn’t an elite Ledley King commander at the back. Guehi significantly upgrades them in their weakest areas the backline.

There's also Ake there still but, interesting trivia:

Porro sign for sporting, on loan from Man City, in the same window that Ake signed for City.

He then spent 2 years on loan at Sporting, signed for them on a permanent deal, then left to join us 6 months later, and yet has more PL apps for us than Ake has got for City

Liverpool were arrogant not to get that deal over the line in the summer IMO.

They've always been like that. People gush about them signing Virgil van Dijk, but they messed about for 6 months unsettling him and bidding low before they actually got him, and then that as only because of the daft Coutinho deal.

Quite often our fans will moan about transfers as if we're the only team that has those issues. Woolwich would have lost out on Eze if he wasn't such a whiney little bitch, and I recall Liverpool stalled for ages on Zubamendi and lost out
