Match West Ham (H) 17/01 - 3PM. Here we go again…

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Still no sign of extra forwards and we are down to the bare bones. We need Simons as a 10 and not one of the front 3 meaning we have Odebert, Muani, Tel. Solanke & Scarlett. The latter 2 have yet to start a match this season. I believe it was stated that in the CL in midweek as Solanke is now fit, he comes back in for Tel. Therefore he has to start that match and so cannot start this one but must have 30 mins. Scarlett must also be given 30 mins as he will be needed if any of the strikers gets injured and when Solanke tires in the 2nd half in midweek. We have lost Richie, Johnson & Kudus in the last few weeks and they are bringing in a Midfielder & LB.

Any attempt to play Simons and only 2 forwards at home against teams we need to beat will end up with the usual dearth of shots or goal chances. So no matter whether we need goals on the hour mark tomorrow or need to defend a 1 goal lead we must bring Solanke & Scarlett on.

My theory is he has a clause that when he is fit he has to play.

I also think his histrionics and poor form have more to do with Romero and Bentancur's new pay deals than anything else.

If Porro contractually has to play, and (deliberately chose) to give less than 100%, until he got better remuneration or a transfer, he is holding quite a strong hand.

Who knows but I can’t see the joke tbh!

I doubt that, to be honest.

He is played because we have no depth at LB and so his cover (Spence) is not able to actually cover him.

He is also played under Frank specifically for his ability to send crosses in all day.

I dont think its any deeper than that

I would counter that by stating the bleeding obvious.

Spence being played at left back makes Spurs defensively weak in both the full back positions.

I have thought, for a while now, the real issue is Romero's grasp of the English language.

Since Spurs signed this player the right back has struggled.

I think it is more likely that Porro is historically protected from being replaced at right back, by Spence, to protect the 40 million the miser invested in Porro and to assist the Spanish speaking centre back. Frank's reliance on set pieces and quality crosses into the box have become a further reason this season.

I want Vicario, Romero and Porro removed from the Spurs first team, for a variety of reasons, but the most pressing one, in the case of Porro, is his inability to defend or take up / be in the correct position when defending.

Pedro Porro is a very poor footballer from a defensive point of view. He often costs Spurs more goals than he is ever involved in scoring or creating.

It was someone's theory. I was just commenting. 😉

And this is how cunt offs start!

Well there has been the mystery of Djed Spence not playing at right back and the further mystery of Bentancur in a double pivot with Palhinha.

I think we are accomodating characters in this team who often have a detrimental effect on outcomes.

I accept; it seems an incredibly stupid and non sensical way to run a football club but;

Conflate my theory with the transfer and wage policy, under the previous brain surgeon, and is it really beyond the realms of possibility?

How the fuck is Spence NEVER getting a game at right back ahead of a wanker like Porro?

Spence has managed to piss off most managers

And he offers a lot less going forward than Porro

And he does do a good job defensively at LB, an area of the squad we have criminally neglected

Our squad management has been appalling, since Poch really.

Directly in line with our manager management being appalling. The tonal whiplash from attacking manager - defensive manager - back again is reflected in the squad, which is build partly for everyone and absolutely for no one.

I think what youre seeing is the absolute shambles the club has become, nothing more.

Let's have this right.

Spence is virtually an unknown quantity at right back for Spurs.

On the left Spence always has to check back on his right foot to cross the ball.

There is the further issue of Porro being 'tired' , because he has to play every game, which gets offered up when Porro is often shit.

Spence is always the fall guy.

Ben Davies is now being picked ahead of Spence at left back.

It's bollocks in my opinion.

Spurs team selection and treatment of Spence is very hard to understand.

I would like to see Spence used at RB more. I just dont see the conspiracy.

And whenever he has played RB, he has looked poorer than at LB.

I would like to see him get a run there, but I can also see why he doesnt.

Categorically I think he is worse attacking. But also I think he is better defending.

With Udogie back, and Davies existance remembered, Id like to see some rotation between Porro and Spence based on opposition.

I think Spence would be very handy at slotting into a back 3, allowing us a good shape going forward at times

Spence, defensively, is the best right back at THFC yet he NEVER gets a run in the team at right back.

When he is played; he is only played at left back, and only then when Udogie is injured and has now, apperently, fallen behind Ben fucking Davies in the left back pecking order.

Spence has somehow been selected for the national team, playing for Spurs under these circumstances, yet when he is dropped from the Spurs team; Spurs supporters keep repeating the cliche about Spence having a 'bad attitude'.

It is successive managers of THFC who seem to have the bad attitude towards Djed Spence in my honest opinion.
