He can obviously play a simple pass and thread a through ball — he did it plenty before joining the club and still does it for his national team.

At this point, it feels less like ability and more like application. Either some players aren’t putting the effort in, or they’re playing within themselves to the point of detriment. You don’t come through La Masia and suddenly forget how to weight a pass, that's an sin lol

You can't blame Frank for the application these players are putting in but he's the reason why these players can't be arsed, they're done with him.

I always find it odd when I watch other teams, often not even particularly good ones, and see them confidently zip the ball around.

Hell, I've seen a number of Championship teams look more fluid and technically adept than we've looked most of the time under Frank.

Xavi's struggling but you don't become a poor technical football and start fucking up simple passes overnight for no reason.

I think you're right and somethings going on. Either the players don't feel free to play their own game and are caught in two minds, they're poorly coached or they simply don't believe in the manager so are all subconsciously playing 10-20% below their true level, SOMETHING is just off about this team at the moment.

Maybe they're just shit but we have seen most of these players play nice stuff under Ange at times so I don't think it's that.

There's something rotten in the state of Denmark and I reckon it might just be the long haired Danish geezer.

That's why it is a mystery what they do in training. Surely that's where they work all this out ... if I have the ball in this part of the pitch I know that my options are player x who will be here and player y who will be there. I mean what do they do all week?

Those "easy passes" he messed has nothing to do with the different level between the EPL and the Bundesliga - all he had to do was to measure the force and angle of the passes, very basic passes even lower league players manage easily...
To me it looks like a confidence thing in Simons' case (I hope)

The Bundesliga is shite though, we’d easily finish 8-9th in that league.

one in particular first half I think, he managed to pass the ball straight to the defender when the right (and simple) pass would have led to a one on one.

Keeps the ball too long. Often fails to get the best pass away or worse still gets tackled/fouled and then starts blubbing.

Really annoying. With no Madz till GKnW we have to persist with him until he comes good. No other option.

Again, a club who looks to save £10m by not buying a PL player. Hopefully this will be the end of it with Levy gone.

Obviously from the stadium you are privy to more of his movement and off the ball activity that watching from the TV, but on the feed he mostly looked cowardly. Certainly in the first half.

Can't say I saw that, wonder if he's wary of going in for a tackle as he got sent off for the one against Liverpool?

I was fuming at the misplaced pass to Odobert in the first half

My 8 year old could have played that pass

I am desperate for this kid to be really good. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

BUT... he often looks good against teams that are just a bit slow to close him down, that give him just that extra split-second of time on the ball. My worry all along is that he hasn't shown the ability to speed up his decision-making against quality PL-level opposition. So I want to keep my powder dry a bit still on believing.

Dortmund are not very good at all. Hopefully this game builds his confidence.
