Schira is confirmed fraud. Mate that is deep into Italian football says to never trust this source

Always wonder with these kind of reports (and there are loads every window) why an Italian journo* would have any inside knowledge about a French player and two English teams

I tend to pay more attenion when its a local journalist, if the Croydon Advertiser were going with the story Id think there was more to it

*Or Turkish / Belgian / Spanish.... whatever

Blah blah blah.

15 years ago the complaint was that we didn’t make signings in January when we could have pushed on and challenged for the league.

Most teams are playing for something important. It’s very tight in there. And these rich teams can’t spend even 5m to strengthen?

In the words of Joan Thomas:

Excuse GIF by MOODMAN
That's when you know the guy you are arguing with literally has nothing.

Palace and West Ham are bringing in attacking reinforcements. Open your eyes and take your fingers out of your ears.

You don't even acknowledge the problem so you sure as shit won't begin to understand the solutions.

Prolly due to "Juve" factor this time.

But yeah, Turkish and Italian frauds are the worst

I don't want to defend ENIC but the transfer market is fucking crazy. £40-£50m now for an absolutley average player is unreal.

Strand-Larsen would have been a £12-£15m pound player not that long ago.

These increases can't be sustainable surely?

This is why I would rather spend £100m+ on a top drawer player who will move the needle.

We ain't buying a 100 million player because that kind of player would have other and objectively better options, at this time.I think that's quite obvious

I think fans/posters are living in fantasy land if they are hanging on to that.

We have to be clever for now, which in my mind is a mixture of identifying proper potential, but also ensuring that a strong environment is created for such players to flourish and not flounder. The biggest challenge and the biggest failing to date.

Posters understandably don't want us to spend silly amounts on players that don't move the dial. If we look around how many players do exactly that, and which of those is choosing us as their first option? None.

Today's reality stinks but it is today's reality.

For now, I maintain 2/3 signings is the boost we need and a club this size should have no trouble securing.

Every team has money and every team in the league has something meaningful to play for. EVERY TEAM.

Most haven’t spent even 2m.

That should tell you something about how feasible it is to reinforce in January. But instead you try to make out we are in some exceptional situation and that it must be down to something about us … conpletely ignoring the conditions of the market.

You’re a fish, completely unaware that you’re swimming in water.

Is he even that good? Would smack of a panic buy to me.

He's obviously better than nobody when we are struggling for goals and in danger of getting sucked into a relegation battle. But he wouldn't be anybodys long term choice for a striker worthy of the club.

Exactly

He’s decent but inconsistent and at his peak so unlikely to get more consistent.

Why spend big on a striker you know isn’t elite and also has almost no prospect of becoming elite?

If we sign him then great but it’s Kanoute signing, maybe Chris Armstrong

That's where you and I disagree.

To attract a player like that you have to show the player that you have the ambition to win the big trophies and have other similar targets lined up. And you have to pay that player top wages.

If you then get gazumped by a rival, so be it. But at least you are showing the ambition to move the needle.

I don't buy that Spurs isn't big enough to attract players. What we need is a mentality shift and the ambition to go for the big trophies.

Our board keeps talking about the ambition but then failing to match the words with actions, and that's what makes the fan base angry.

If the boards real ambition is just to potter along and try and make the top 4 every season then they need to lower the expectations with the fan base instead of promising the moon, and most importantly lower the ticket prices accordingly.

I don't disagree that finding prospects is a good route for a club like ours, but it should be done in conjunction with buying top players, not as an alternative.

We are in an exceptional situation. We have a million players out including most of our goals and assists from last season. our top scorers this season are; Romero, VDV and Own goal.

Last night was great but we have an incredibly tough run of fixtures coming in the league where I find it hard to pinpoint the next win. At the end of that we could easily be within a handful of points of the bottom three.

This is exactly what I'm saying, you don't even seem to acknowledge the fire you are sitting in.

All its going to take is another injury to Simmons or Solanke who is only just back and we are bang in trouble.

I don't think you appreciate danger unless its already smashed you around the head and run off with your wallet.

I suspect we still want him but getting him will be like pushing a boulder up a hill. Frimpong went off injured last night, are they really going to want to sell another defender now?

If we dont get him, then I do want us to get another left back but not any old rubbish.
Does an injury to a right back really have any impact on the availability of a left back? I think that's just a Spurs thing...
