It's just following in the tradition of Levy's "we tried" bullshit.

If they were willing to pay £65m and 200k a week to Semenyo then go and make the same offer for a different player. Do they really think we are this stupid? Go and buy someone else! Otherwise it's all fake posturing, just pretending to want to make a big singing.

3 days mate but.....

Its all PR bollocks, they have no intention at all of players like that.

It was never a tradition because it was never a thing.

It originated from fantasy ITKs trying to backpeddle on their predictions

Oliver Glasner: “I can confirm JP [Mateta] won’t be in the matchday squad [on Sunday] … it’s not to do with a transfer, he’s just not in the right place to play now."

Not to do with a transfer?

No it originated from real life. Remember Dybala? Remember this shit:

That's not ITK crap. That's a club pretending to be ambitious.

Eh? The club have never said "we tried".

Are you trying to suggest that it's a negative that the club actually attempting to sign the best players is a negative?

It's as though for some reason, they're trying to get us relegated...I really don't understand this attitude...if you don't care, just sell the bloody club already....l don't mind if it's oil people, Japanese etc etc...except American owners of course...

It started with this from Hoddle.
We were so close to getting Rivaldo," said Glenn after Wednesday evening's game at Crystal Palace. "Milan pushed the boat out and pushed the money up to extortionate levels.
"Other than that we were pipped at the post - he was coming here.
"To be fair to the lad he showed a touch of class, I've never known it before, he sent a terrific letter explaining why he opted for Milan. I've never had that before from a player I've missed out on.

Exactly.

Semenyo is not the single player in world football at that price range that could improve our attack.

Aguero

This is 100% in their play book.

I'm saying that the club often makes a lot of noise about pursuing expensive players without actually following through. Where did that £70m we offered for Guehi go? What happened to the £65m Frank says we offered for Semenyo? That was two weeks ago, why haven't we made offers for anyone else of that level? This club always makes bids for important players just for the sake of appearances.
