Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you look at most of our targets this season, they've mostly been proven prem players (Kudus, Gibbs-White, Semenyo, Eze, Gallagher, Palhinha). I'd guess our targets will be players from "smaller prem clubs" or proven players that now play abroad.

Are there any players from clubs outside the big 6/8 that are performing well that would improve us?

He's obviously not ready for us. Despite people on here clamouring for him to play. So a good move for the lad so long as we're bringing in some quality up front
We aren’t bringing in anyone mate. Nobody out there during January apparently.
There won't be anyone out there in the summer either, but that's for another fun packed summer thread.😁
In the meantime, we continue in our quest to become a mid table team, its progress from being lower midtable, we have to feed into the positive.

I just don't understand our football strategy. What was the plan for this window? We sold Johnson early for a nice fee, a good bit of business. Then Kudus and Richarlison got crocked. We're at the end of the window now and the only move we've made for an attacker was an absurd enquiry for Semenyo. What are we doing?

It's like some kind of kamikaze, and there are posters who are all but defending the club's stance. Strewth.

Selling Johnson wasn't good business when we didn't and hadn't replaced his goals and considering Solanke was still nowhere to be seen.

Then Kudus and Richarlison, so arguably down 2 goalscorers.

We have bought a midfielder and a left back.

I mean it's quite something.

2019: We are coming off a UCL final and Top 4 qualification, time for Spurs to show ambition and build off of this. 6 months later manager is sacked and squad is in shambles.

2020: We have an elite manager and an opportunity in a winnable European tournament, time for Spurs to show ambition and build off this. 10 months later the manager is sacked before a final and the squad is in shambles.

2022: We have an elite manager and Top 4 qualification, time for Spurs to show ambition and build off this. 10 months later the manager leaves in disgrace and the squad is in shambles.

2024: We have a promising and fresh manager and an opportunity in a winnable European tournament, time for Spurs to show ambition and build off this. 12 months later we finish 17th, the manager is sacked, and the squad is in shambles.

2025: We are coming off a major European trophy and an (albeit quite lucky) UCL qualification, time for Spurs to show ambition and build off this. 8 months later we are in 17th again and the board is wank and squad is in shambles.

Do we actually think anything will be different this time?
Nope but you can actually trace your timeline back further. Let's go back to January 2012. We were going well in the league and pushing hard for a top 4 finish and our place back in the Champions League... Arry wanted Carlos Tevez who City were looking to shift (for around 20m) after he refused to come on as a sub in a CL game... and Gary Cahill who eventually went to the Chavs for 7m. What did we get instead??? Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen on free transfers... we went on to finish 4th, 1 point behind Woolwich but were denied CL place because the Chavs beat Bayern in CL final. When that window shut we won just 5 more games in the league that season. We lost back to back games against Norwich and QPR. Drew at home with Stoke. We had Adebayor and Defoe up top but not much else. Tevez would of pretty much guaranteed top three and place back into the CL... that there was the first sliding doors moment that told me ENIC do not care about football success.

This was the exact same thing that was said about replacing Frank from a few of the unbearables.

I'm not into unbearable or whatever. I clump it differently but I just don't see the sense in the comment as though we are all paid football scouts, and part of football networks.

Honestly this place will feel more angst if West Ham or Leeds or amy of the clubs below or near us pick up points over the weekend.

Meanwhile we sit on our perch taking a little peek at the goings-on and hording our nuts!

Anderson, Wharton, Robinson, Baleba, Verbruggen, Igor Thiago, Garner, Ndiaye..... Off the top of my head.

Im talking about the guys that acted like you flashed their mother's, when you criticised Frank. Those guys were unbearable.

Well said. 👏 👏

Some posters will always defend the undefendable.
If we got relegated, they would claim its a good chance to visit other stadiums.

My friend, getting £35m for Brennan Johnson may be the greatest bit of business since Lyon rinsed us for Ndombele.
