Shouldn’t be unpopular he was a fantastic interim similar to Carrick is now. Sets the team up to play to the players strengths and is positive. He just never had the long term tactical dimensions. Long as we don’t employ him permanently it would be ok.
And even in spite of his lack of fancy tactics his win % at United was 54.

He's a decent manager even if he doesn't tick a lot of the boxes for a fancy modern one.

I just hope the management has analysed what the causes of our issues are. What are our strengths and weaknesses, and they hire the coach that matches those challenges.

I would love to see some first half performances that resemble many of the second half ones we've seen lately. We need to hit the pitch fired up.

Bit of a mandela effect, but I was almost certain he quit when they went out of the CL. link

Confused about that. I assume it wasn't official, but losing 5-0 sounds about right for a guy that had given up a few weeks ago

It was reported he was going that night

Possibly resigned / meeting with the board - looked like it was a done deal

Next day he had a press conference in the evening for the next game and basically said he was there long term, believed in the project, blah blah.... but it sounded very "its only a matter of time"

Yeah, the squad is dreadful, over half need to be sold, ENIC tight, Lange and Vinai hopeless. This is going to be 2 or 3 years work to seriously improve us and thats if we get decisions right.

If we can survive this season then yes major surgery is needed on the squad

Vicario
Porro
Dragusin
Spence
Bentancur
Bissouma
Richarlison

Should all be part of the first clear out stage , those 23 and under could still be salvaged under the right coach

If anyone thinks De Zerbi or whoever comes in and all the problems disappear is smoking crack.

I think a proper coach comes in and half our problems disappear / minimise

I cant understate just how badly I think Frank has managed us

Which is not to deny there are other issues with the club as well

A proper coach, some on the ball systems/movements, some attacking intent, some ideas other than long balls and long throws, use the centre of the pitch more - I think a proper coach makes this team look significantly better with all other issues accepted

Good question. Perhaps logically he'd agree in principle and wait.

One thing that will be fascinating: regardless of what the hell happens with the managerial situation, we'll be playing Woolwich in 12 days. I don't really have any optimism for a result, but we'll find out how much fight/attacking energy the players show without Frank at the helm. I could be wrong but I haven't seen any 'thanks boss' messages on social media in reaction to his sacking. No love lost?
I dunno about that not being on social. although I question the professionalism of our players for not giving it there all regardless of their thoughts on the manager.

Marseille have a huge and fanatical fan base that makes their home ground an intimidating place and they are not far off PSG in terms of stature in french football. You would expect any manager to do good things there. It's like saying a manager did good things at Liverpool or United.
on that thread is Pep a good manager as he has only managed Barca, Bayern and City?

It doesnt matter who they bring in. Weve been through this. Mourinho, Conte...the club needs new owners.
